Dragoneer finally comes out and admits that he thinks he can be irresponsible and do whatever because "It'll die down".

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5447443/#cid:38244612

Every time he opens his mouth, something increasingly stupid comes out, so I'm looking forward to what he says/does next.

christ that avatar is fucking -perfect- for the situation.  Just complete stubborn disdain, rolling the eyes dismissively.  The only thing it's missing is a few frames of gif animation of him sticking his fingers in his ears and going LA LA LA I CANT HEAR YOU

Nanuk is no longer the "PR Person". This was rumored to be the case a while ago, but he has now confirmed it himself.

FA's criminally stupid server dicks up again: http://forums.furaffinity.net/threads/1189020-Error-500-when-creating-new-submission

Nice work, Zaush.

So an update came out today, and it turns out that Project Phoenix is open source. Also worth noting: the person who did the initial commit is a Weasyl dev.

So apparently they're serious enough about this they've taken to headhunting people from competing websites.

How the hell did someone manage to convince 'neer to make it open source? What about the EVIL ANTI-FA HACKERS seeing all the code? And Zaush is presumably okay with it too? He's prepared to give up being SUPREME GLORIOUS TEAM LEADER of the SUPER ELITE CODING GROUP?

I must've stepped through a portal to opposite world.

As for the journal, this comment chain is hilarious.

if it is going to be under higher security, why is it posted out where all to see? Seems like a pretty amateur move to make to me.

Publicity of code doesn’t have much bearing on security. When it does, it’s usually positive. Take Linux, for example.

never heard of Linux, tbh.

Um.

Wow.  I gotta admit, that was probably the last thing I'd ever thought I'd see.

Ferrox was open source, remember.  I think Dragoneer knows there's more positives than negatives there.

I'm most surprised with the Weasyl dev, though, because Dragoneer has always been paranoid about that kind of stuff. This leads me to believe that Charmander is probably feeding him insider information. Who wants to bet a future announcement of new Phoenix features includes most of what Weasyl collected from their feature request thing?

Also it's really fucking funny that the Phoenix developer is another person with a Pokemon character.

Actually, he trusts me because I don’t have a Vivisector account.

So much for that, then.

If that's his only meaningful criteria for trusting anyone, we've done our job.
Zeriara is part of a series on Whores.

Oh, I think that post explains exactly why he's trusting you. :3c

It doesn't count as being thoughtful and considering alternatives if you have no idea what those alternatives are.

Don't you have people to purposefully misgender and uncited sources to flag, sperglord?

I can multitask. Do you have a point, or are you just trying to change the topic? :-)

There are alternatives out there. FreeBSD is quite popular among a certain crowd. Heck, a lot of businesses use Windows Server. (These are the same people keeping Azure afloat.)

What matters is whether your developers and server administrators know what they're doing. It's this which will determine the success of Phoenix, not the languages and platforms they choose.

There's now a twitter account that autoposts new commits.

Like this really important one. How can you expect anyone to develop new useful things when the ridiculous site documents aren't already loaded in???
