So, nothing has changed. 2 has still had success purely by catering to furries.
The really sad thing is that he actually feels he's somehow accomplished something. It's like he doesn't even realize that absolutely nothing has changed except the building surrounding his act and the fact that a lot of much more successful people perform around him. He's performing to the exact same audience he always has and that has always just laughed and claptered along to his same old material in the exact same way, and yet he thinks it's somehow different because it wasn't at a furry con.
I also find myself a bit skeptical at his claims of the comics somehow "figuring out" that the audience was furries, and becoming enthused about performing for furries more often. I think this is either 2 editing his memory for content, or trying to give an ego stroke to his fanboys. What I find more likely is that one or more comics remarked something along the lines of "Wow, this is a really easy audience" or "Man they're receptive", 2 proceeded to launch into some explanation of how they were furries and what furries were and how many of his fans had shown up, which was likely responded to with "Oh. That's nice. Wish every audience was this easy."
And it's very funny how he keeps referring to these people as "[his] opening acts", as if these Comedy Central veterans were merely called in to fill time before the glorious main even that was 2 the Ranting Gryphon. Maybe that's just the technically correct term or something and I'm misreading it, I dunno, but it just comes off more like trying to make himself sound important and central to the night (supported by him saying things like "whipped up", as if they'd scrambled to find these guys to fill out his show), rather than what it really was: a bunch of successful comics lined up as the main event, with an "also featuring" some unknown newb they put on dead last so that most of the people would have bought their drinks and food before he chased them out.
Whiiiiiich brings me to another thing. Now, 2 moved a lot of tickets by selling to furries, obviously... with the exact same furries likely to buy tickets to his next show, and his next, and so on. So they made some money off of him. But everyone knows that the real money from places like that comes from the booze and the food... things furries can be notoriously stingy about. While it may have been a full house, I'm betting the till from the concessions was at an all-time low from murrypurries sneaking their dollar menu burgers in under their neckbeards and in their Tails backpacks. The house is relying on selling an average of a ten buck cocktail per table, most likely... not practically everybody in the place ordering a soda with free refills and every third table ordering the cheapest appetizer on the menu.
