I'll reiterate that I do not think Weasyl cannot possibly succeed, but rather that people need to express caution, and to not toss their eggs into one basket so hastily.

That doesn't mean anything tho? Like there's nothing you can actually unpack from this that translates into actual action.

It really does just come off like you're trying to damage control your rep. Which is probably beyond saving, tbh.

He's also trying to ineptly torpedo the site's reputation, only it's too transparent. Hey, ben, get this: people are going to use weasyl whether or not you tell them not to. Also "express caution" what? Seriously I don't know what you mean by that.

To the above two posts: I am advising people not back up their entire galleries to Weasyl, like I said in the first post, because if the site fails, the cynicism surrounding FA alternatives will be that much greater if there are lots of people putting a ridiculous amount of time into backing everything up. I firmly believe the site should have encouraged people to upload their best/favorite work instead of encouraging them to crosspost their entire galleries. That's essentially all-- When one reuploads their entire gallery to Weasyl, they do so in part because they're hedging a bet that the site is there to stay. I am merely pointing out that there is reason to cast doubt on that, and to not get so deep into it to avoid amplifying any possible hurt feelings down the road. People should not necessarily express this caution with any alternate site, but rather, there's enough evidence here (i.e. the mountains of things still wrong with Weasyl) to suggest that caution isn't unwise.

hint: you are the only one saying this

the count of open issues on redmine has no bearing on reality, because (given a quick glance, without even logging in) half of the tickets are duplicates and half of the rest are conflicting feature requests

turns out, a simple count of objects in a database is not a meaningful metric of anything

The duplicate tickets were closed. Adding up the features and bugs, there are 119 open things, and with the 13 -very significant things- I counted as missing (user groups, the ability to prevent people from sending you friend requests, the ability to SET A FEATURED SUBMISSION and more), there are 132. Even if Weasyl fixes these at the rate of one a week, it will not be until 2016 that it's actually up to snuff. But again, I am not asking anyone to give up on Weasyl. Just to merely not dive in head-first and upload their entire life's work. If that still prompts a shut-up response from you, advising people wait and see before jumping in head first, then okay I guess.

Sure, but I don't understand why you're only focusing on the semantics on my posts instead of the points.

Your use of double-negatives is a SYNTACTICAL fuckup that makes your SEMANTICS difficult to understand. Actually, I think you're doing this to hide the fact that you don't have a fucking point.

And yes, your sudden swerve from "Weasyl Cheerleader GO TEAM GO" to "HEY EVERYONE DON'T NOT USE CAUTION WHEN  FAILING TO NOT STAY AWAY FROM NOT USING WEASYL" is going to generate a "shut up ben" response

You don't have points, Ben, you have impotent asshurt wrapped in meaningless managerial speak.  Is this what passes as a defense mechanism when you're barred from outright shifting blame to The Other?  The non-debate has been dragged into a morass where nothing is anybody's fault and no data is relevant because all sides are ideologically equivalent and imperfect (except for people blaming you, they are Bad People) (meanwhile your friends are shotgunning blame on twitter so whatevs)
What if the pentagon has stored lost data of porn and yiff in it's data, has anyone over there saved about millions of porn data and art in it's computer drive? tell me more about the facts what they have in your opinions!

the ability to SET A FEATURED SUBMISSION

guys I think I finally figured out what's going on: Ben has no idea what's happening what's happening with Weasyl and it is making him so mad. hi! I am a Weasyl coder, and this has been implemented for more than a month now.

(I am going to guess that among the 13 things is widgets.)

there are 132

pretty much most of these are pie-in-the-sky suggestions from the general public.

Because the points are pointless. Or maybe I should say none of your points are not pointless.

If you aren't aware, each bug is probably not going to take a whole week to fix either. Some, a few hours, some a couple weeks. Stuff like "Markdown Block Formated Text Too Small" shouldn't take more than a day at most.

Wait, that's the complaint?  A site that actually has an open public trouble tracker that is visible and transparent has a lot of bugs and that's the sign of a problem?

Don't fucking look at the linux kernel's bugzilla , man, it'd break your mind.

Except here's the thing: You never announced that it was added. You also never announced that scraps functions were added to the folders section instead of being an option you check off when uploading. The fact that this is where both of those features live, within folder options, is not intuitive in the least. This is part of one of Weasyl's biggest issues: The promotional side of things is in dire need of reworking. This is literally the last thing that was said publicly about the matter on the official Weasyl blog.

Quote
You may have noticed that “Featured Submission” has been renamed “Most Recent.” This is a more accurate (but temporary) placeholder as we introduce additional folder options to allow for rotating Featured Submissions, Scraps, and so on. Keep watch for more information and bigger updates in the future.

I think you can understand why I feel no vested interest in doing that for them; the information is there, they can do it themselves. I am merely expressing amazement that some huge things like the ones listed were forgotten.

Since you seem to be not getting the hint, I deleted half of your "pay attention to me" post about features you want on weasyl. First off, shut up, second, this isn't the place for them and if you have the time to post a million words on my forum you sure have the goddamn time to post them where they actually might get read. Fuck you and have a nice day.

I can.

You're a fucking douchebag.

Makes perfect sense.  I mean, you've taken your time to write out epic saga length bullshit here, and not there.

So what remains is a pretty basic fact.  You're just an asshole.  Which probably means you hang out with assholes.  Which means that Weasyl seems to have made a good choice.

Uh. Dude, they're lying about me behind my back and attributing things like the open beta launch to me when I had nothing to do with it. You can't honestly expect me to want to actively help a site that's trying to slander me.

No, they're not, Ben.

YOU are doing that.  To them.  You're projecting, dear.

We're just calling you out on your Cru bullshit.
