pmart about has it. The effects seem to have been twofold:
1: A small cadre of people have gone LEAVING FA FOREVER, and a larger contingent went 'hey wait a minute, Weasyl is open beta now? Let's have a go!' ...which means Weasyl is now entering the Main Sequence of FA-alternatives, that is the initial burst of activity before everyone gets sick of maintaining two sites and goes back to FA. If they can make the burst 'stick', then maybe they have a thing going.
2: An about-as-large group of the I BELIEVE IN SEAN PICHE crowd have gone off the rails in labeling the whole situation as 'drama', up to and including insinuations that it was done as a PR stunt for Weasyl. People have suggested (hi Johnny!) that those promoting the incident - and the victim herself - be "Pilloried" and shunned. Given Qarrezel's standing in the fandom, good luck with THAT, but it's an opinion taking hold.
Group 2 makes me squirm with how victim-blaming it is. There's a kernel-of-truth sounding argument about the victim not providing enough evidence at the start, but any time people defend FA this virulently my fairness module short-circuits and I assume it's all PR lies.
Hell, the LAST Grand Outage was ~4mo and it did jack to FA's usage, right?
