So, we keep an eye on our referral logs, mostly to laugh at what kind of searches lead to us.

Some of them are amusing:

• penis tutorial drawing furaffinity
• 80's cartoons turned us into furries
• tranny big blog
• plush nipple porn
• furry sock bondage
• do fursonas usually wear clothes
• What are the names of the two new servers Trogdor and Novastorm for Fur Affinity?

That last one is pretty great. "what are the names of these two named things?????"

But there's this entire class of people that find us by searching for "vivisector" or "vivisecotr". Why? Is "vivisector.org" too much to type into your history bar? Seriously, stop that.

Anyway, if any of the other admins wanna spew about the reflogs, that'd be great. Otherwise, whatever.

I'm confused not by the fact that people are searching for this, but that those searches lead them here. Are they going through 50 pages of results? Surely this site can't be that high in the rankings for such terms, "plush" and "blog" aside.

I will speak up in defense of the "Google vivisector to get to the site" bit- on a cell phone it's a lot easier to tap the Google suggest result when you get what you're looking for than to peck in the entire "forums dot vivisector dot org" string.

Does your phone's browser not have, like, history? I know on mine, i can type 'f' in the URL bar, and it'll pop up the Viv link right then and there.

1. http://forums.vivisector.org is more difficult to access than it could to be, if you start with the mainsite you have a only a small link in the corner to take you to the forum, which is really the only relevant/up to date part of the site. On a phone, it's kind of a pain. Google "vivisector forum" (and NOT "vivisection forum") and you land in the right place.

2. There are other domains similar to vivisector.org (such as vivisector.com) that are annoying, LOUD, browser hijacking, squatted domains that shout "YOU WON A PRIZE!!!" If you find yourself on vivisector.com and want to find the real vivisector, Google helps...

The Firefox addon RefControl is great for this, and for fooling the paywall at WSJ, NY Times, and others. If you make those sites think you are coming from Google (fake a referrer like "http://www.google.com/search?q=foo") then they will let you see anything and everything as they need that precious search engine traffic to keep their advertising rates up.

Maybe they're Facebook users. A while back some hapless blog temporarily had more Google juice than the real Facebook login page, so people Googling "facebook login" would end up there, then post comments whining about the 'change'.

I get some of these...but the others? Has anyone ever "explained" why this shit shows up, not only in referrer logs but in Google Suggest? It probably has something to do with spammers SEO, be my guess. Just like everything else Google.
