Well since nobody else seems inclined to post about this, I will.  Somebody post some relevant links to FAF or something.

Dragoneer's ever-shrinking inner cabal of trusted furfags got just that much smaller (and significantly more bereft of common sense) recently as Witchiebunny (whose actual position within said group I am unclear of) publicly 'stepped down'. 

Wait, didn't that happen before?  In some form of protest? 

Anyway it's looking like this is more or less permanent, and probably not voluntary.

Yesterday, in the idle-fest known as #furaffinity-dev, asking about details w.r.t why the site whitescreens every so often, emphasis mine:

I don't know how you get into a situation where you run a network and do not have access to at least one of its constituent components at all times; a jumpbox that's locked down, and possibly has OPIE, but not plain password auth. Being unable to get into your own fucking network just a major "no". I mean, they have the iLO/RAC, right? What happened to that?

Pretty sure they firewalled it. Only two things respond on the /28 where the RAC was, the switch and something with SSH open.

Shock, horror, and scandal!  Sources reveal that Witchie posted logs from FA's private admin irc channel, and knowledge of this somehow made its way back to Piche.  A full investigation is underway as we speak!

Newsflash: A certain fag found screenshots of a certain forum where a certain person posted certain logs.  This was certainly accessed by a certain digimon and I'm all but certain this lead to a forced 'stepping down'.  The forces of perl and grep are currently hard at work deciphering mysterious access logs!

I've stepped down from FA's mainsite staff, at least for a while. Whilst I'm not having any hardship or anything, I'm finding that after attending to everything else I need to get done for the day, I just don't have enough time to come to FA and deal with trouble tickets.

Just letting you know here, so... well, I don't know... so you know it's of my own volition? Anyway... yeah. I'll still be here, just not an admin.

The next thing to leave after the admins will be the userbase. If your admins have no faith in your site, how do you expect the average Joe-Smoe furry to stick around. It's not going to go out with a bang naturally but possibly a sign of the things to come....

I really think that furries will flock to any shitty website with fur in the name, or that has porn. What will kill the site is when it stops being the case that literally every goddamn artist in the fandom has an FA, and the only reason that that is the case now is because everyone looks for every goddamn artist in the fandom on FA. Piche might be hounding out his admins out of paranoia, but the site will not wither until he starts driving artists away. And Sean Piche may be below average in terms of just about every measure of intelligence there is, but he's not *that* dumb.

Of course, I say it won't "wither" away. The site could easily go out with a bang, one that starts with the explosion of Sean Piche's ability to piss away large amounts of cash for no reason at all...

Well, considering he's more or less paying for the entire enterprise out of his own pocket (since he can't figure out pesky things like 'donations' or 'running profitable ads' or whatever), it could potentially 'go with a bang' if he gets canned.  Recent rumblings from unnamed sources seem to indicate his bosses are cordoning him off into an easily-disposed-of division so it could quite honestly just be a matter of time until their next budget cut/downsizing.

Once certain people known to be working on alternative sites get those up and running, there will be at least 2 or 3 alternatives to FA.  At that point it's merely a matter of continuing the campaign to discredit Piche and his crew while simultaneously advertising that features the alternative sites offer over and above FA's offerings.  Get the top tier 'artists' to switch, and the lower tiers will eventually follow; each bringing its own cluster of fans and admirers.

On the other hand, Piche seems to have been doing quite a media blitz w/r/t keeping people from leaving for Inkbunny, which blows my mind.  Dude seems about as charismatic as a baked potato.

But I digress.  As to the original topic of the thread, I recently stumbled upon some interesting things on Imgur related to the Witchiebunny incident.  Dun dun dunnnnn~

Recent rumblings from unnamed sources seem to indicate his bosses are cordoning him off into an easily-disposed-of division so it could quite honestly just be a matter of time until their next budget cut/downsizing.

The entertainment (= schadenfreude) will come when he's driving a breadbox truck from 5am to 3pm like he was born to do, and can't afford to buy a new cell phone every six seconds. Oh, and when his phone service gets cut off cuz he can't afford $150 a month for it all. Of course, FA will be long gone at that point and no one will care about him anymore.

Congratulations, Sean. You're cruising to lose the best job you'll ever have, which takes some serious talent. Now you get to live without your shiny toys just like the rest of us.

His parents live three hours away from the headquarters for the company he works for, so I don't think there's a connection there.

Given the industry he's in, none of this is implausible or really all that surprising. Although it is interesting that his parents pay for his apartment. NoVA rent has to be a killer, that area is hellishly expensive to live in.
