No, I'm just honestly expecting it to happen.

Like I said: I haven't done anything banworthy (lately), so the only reason I'd get suspended at this point is Digimon Butthurt.

Given how I railed on 'Neer in that thread, I'm honestly waiting for my own suspension to come down, mainsite or FAF (or both).

Especially since I know exactly why I would be suspended, since I haven't done anything ban-worthy on the mainsite or FAF, and I could then use it to prove that 'Neer would rather ignore/silence his critics than fix the numerous problems he, as site owner/lead administrator, is ultimately responsible for.

Then again, that might be why he's not coming after me.

Yet.

Too bad for him Carenath screwed up the implementation of the Miserable Users mod and everyone now knows of it, or he could have used that method instead. I haven't known Dragoneer to easily ban or punish FA users who offend him, in all honesty. Maybe he just hates Pi enormously.

Do you think it's Dragoneer, or someone else? [...] I guess he can't be bothered to address his user base, but he can still look through the thread and retaliate against people he doesn't like.

I got suspended from the mainsite "for repeated disruptions" after leaving a comment on a cat video that Dragoneer posted, flat out stating that he is pissing away money on a non-solution. I got banned from the forums shortly thereafter with the same reason.

Draw your own conclusions? :)

Yeah, unless you gave him an in-your-face excuse, he generally seemed to realize that banning people you didn't like was not a real popular rule-of-thumb. Especially when it's obvious those people will go off elsewhere and make (more) trouble for him.

That's changed since FAleaks, honestly. He's been much, much quicker to ban people just about everywhere he can, and especially in the immediate aftermath of what happened I'd imagine it was a function of stress. Now, though, it seems like he's acting like a cornered animal. Far more overtly aggressive than he used to be.

Witchie's FA mainsite page no longer has an @, but I know she is working with Arshes on the forums over this matter.

I think he's starting to realize the level of responsibility that he's supposed to have as the owner/head administrator of arguably the largest site in the furry community (and, also arguably, its most important site). FA is practically the central hub of the community right now, and knowing that he's responsible for its security, upkeep, and survival probably does stress 'Neer out at times - the FuriLeaks scandal just increased the stress and brought his happy-go-lucky outlook on FA back to its dark, grim reality.

Dragoneer isn't the root cause of every problem on FA, but ultimately, the buck stops with him. If an admin steps out of line, he has to put them in their place. If someone hacks the site, he should be the very first person addressing the entire userbase in a public and open manner, rather than hiding and waiting for everything to blow over.

'Neer needs to man up and accept his responsibility. If he can't do that, then he may as well just let FA die - or let someone who knows what the fuck they're doing take over.

The question then becomes, "who -is- qualified to run such a site"?

Hmm, let's see, who is responsible, financially sound, mature, and not in it for asspats/e-peen?  OH, NOBODY.

Welp, let it die.

fake edit: oh wait give it to Dingo, he'll sell off all the excess equipment for speed again.

I am at least three of these. Which ones is anyone's guess.

Prominent Viv members are automatically disqualified from consideration w/r/t running FA.

Besides we can't have you holding the monopoly of both pro- and anti-furry websites!

Well, he can't trust even the most well-meaning and trustable people to help improve the site, he's definitely not going to trust anyone to have it.

He's awfully paranoid and protective of his mangled piece of crap.

Haven't you been listening??!!! We're not trustworthy because they can imagine situations in which "anyone else given the opportunity to help might end up exploiting what they find". Then they worry that this COMPLETELY IMAGINED problem could "spell the end of the project", and so they won't give us access, to avoid "[making] it trivial for them with the careless move until FA's setup is ready".

As opposed to what's happening right now, in which people who want to destroy the site (or at least cause plenty of chaos) end up finding the holes we speculate about and give them a good thrashing. Then they use this as evidence that our speculation causes the attack, and I end up getting annoyed at their doublethink and doubletalk and bullshit.

And as far as I can tell they still don't have a development testbed.

No, they don't, because it appears Yak has been working on the live site code again.

It is truly amazing to see the level of pure incompetence involved with the development and administration of this site sometimes.

I'm not a developer, by any means, but even I know that experimenting on live code is just plain dumb.

Would it be a stretch to have a non-furry run it?

I'm leaning toward no, but I'm open to 2nd/3rd/4th/etc. opinions.

I can't imagine a non-furry putting up with the sort of bullshit that would be coming at them from all angles.  I also can't see a non-furry wanting to be even the slightest bit associated with such an endeavor.

Someone not from furry would associate him/herself with it only if it turned a profit!

Also: I asked Dragoneer a while back how much FA is worth to him.
im glad the "I saw a furry IRL" thread is so good at bringing goons together

Funny that, considering Dragoneer himself admits that FA isn't worth charging for. With all the supposed debts he has, he'd be well served to take the money and walk away from FA. He'd serve FA by doing that too.

If I owned FA, and somebody offered me $50K, I'd be saying so long, suckas!

That would be the intelligent decision. But then, this is Dragoneer we're talking about.
