FA Banning Cub Porn Again?

Well, the fact that it's a random LJ comment aside, it is pretty fuckin' transparent. The thing that gets me is that she acts like she's being subtle, but Christ, you'd have to have the IQ of a potato not to pick up on the "hint".

Earlier on LJ, like a few weeks ago Dragoneer said the cub thing was being looked into as well.  Though he didn't quite announce which way it would go and how far.

They won't make the symbolic gesture of banning the (now abandoned) Crassus account (just like they won't make the symbolic gesture of banning certain other abandoned accounts), and they want to finally ban cub porn or whatever?

I don't buy it. There's certainly a lot of pressure coming from the utter-garbage crowd, but they're afraid to actually do it. The backlash would be more damaging than they're comfortable with, and actually enforcing the policy at this point would be something of a logistical nightmare.

More likely, what would happen is that random users would be randomly banned for random reasons. Basically, no significant logistical change would be necessary! The AUP is already a meaningless collection of words; changing what those words are won't change that fact.

Well, as of right now Witchie's been "suspended". So she'll have to go sit in the corner and think about what she's done before Dragoneer apologizes for "overreacting" later this week.

She should just resign if she's so against the ban. But no, that would mean she'd give up that precious Admin e-badge and would once again have no relevance in the fandom.

The past tense there could indicate legal issues of some kind, perhaps surrounding the new EU laws against simulated child porn.

It's all grandstanding: "I'd feel bad if I didn't get punished!", "I asked for this suspension" (in the comments) IMO. If you can't wiggle out of responsibility then you can at least flagellate yourself.

While there are complaints about Witchiebunny, she was one of the few admins that ever did anything even close to her actual JOB as an admin.  So now, once agian, FA had a slew of admins and all of which do fuck all on a regular basis.

That's pretty much what I've been predicting.  OTOH, wasn't that new-ish art site founded/run by a known pedo?  I'd find it highly amusing if they attempt to lure away all the banned manchildren with promises of candy in their van...er, cub porn on their site.

I wonder how much of the impetus for these changes comes from Dragoneer somehow getting the idea, either from a good authority (his ISP) or not (Internet e-lawyers), that if he didn't do something his "retirement security" might be at risk. Because lord knows if that man doesn't have to do something, he won't.

Anyway, this is another one of those situations, as is pretty much any situation involving Dragoneer, where you root for both sides to die in a horrible fiery car crash and raise the average IQ of the world a couple of points.

One of them briefly tried it earlier, submitting this petition on FA : http://i55.tinypic.com/2d781lw.png which demands people leave comments on it in such quantities so as to make the FA servers crash.

However it, and reposts of it were swiftly removed and journals deleted etc etc.

I'm thinking all the Allan drama recently has put him on thin ice with their ISP. A couple "Child porn on the servers" complaints would probably get them kicked out. Kinda like the whole e621 thing from a while back. OH KARMA.
