Gangs are posers looking for attention. All these guys are doing for attention is wearing tails.. weird animal contact lenses, and collars+leash...

...What a bunch of posers. Putting that much work into looking that way in public is just screaming for attention.

Micheal J. Fox is the only Teenwolf I'll acknowledge.

Eh, just sounds like the latest "group of individuals" to come along.

Vampires have gone mainstream, so time to find some other fictional monster race to twist into being angsty and misunderstood. And much like vampires, White Wolf has already done a lot of the groundwork for them so it's much less effort.

Hard to say. At least one of the first prominent ones is probably a troll... but one of those trolls that was so into it and so intent on keeping the front up that I think it's entirely possible that at some point he became the mask.

But yes. Plenty others have followed, and it's unlikely that all of them just be trollan. It was inevitable... you have this perfect, at-one-with-nature nonhuman species whose hypocrisy is never acknowledged and thus excused, who lectures humanity on how much it sucks and triumphs over them. It's like crack cocaine for antisocial maladjusted juvenile whiners.

I'm really torn as to whether this is truly any 'worse' than any other 'otherkin' sort of mental problem.

I was going to say, "at least otherkin pretend to be something that actually exists," but then I remembered they are primarily shit like werewolves and faeries and dragons.

Yeah, but usually with those there's at least the excuse of them having been spoken of in mythology for a long time. These people are usually woefully ignorant on anything but the pop culture version of that mythology, but people have been talking about werewolves and faeries and dragons for long swathes of human history.

These guys are proclaiming to have the souls of something explicitly fictional. Something with one of those "Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental" disclaimers. Something they only became aware of last frikkin' year. The Na'vi aren't figures of legend, they're lame products of James Cameron's excuse for creativity. They're closer to Otakukin, but with an extra (and extra-thick) layer of hippie on top.

thank you for the link pmart.

if any offensive message could be derived from avatar it is "the loyalty of a cripple is easy to purchase" like if the humans had found a crippled navi and offered to fix his/her legs, then would that navi suddenly declare his love for the scared colonel man or Giovanni Ribisi  and wage war against the mother tree thing?

oh and i forgot to really riff on the wolf teens:don't you just love how they speak of the severed dog's head just as they show pictures of the boy posing like a moron with his cheap display only swords. its almost like they are implicating that he (with his weak little wizard wrists and cheap mail order swords that would shatter if they doped from 4 feet) killed the dog or found him dead and carved his body

lol ^_^ wow I'm starting to sound a little venomous aren't I? its all in good fun i assure you

  fogive my ignorance but.

   is the answer "white guilt"?
and if Jake's legs are a metaphor for white guilt, (or dependence on technology maybe, greedful capitalist society?).
now you've got me thinking Jake's busted legs are a metaphor for the white mans sins, and his final conversion to being a navi is like his white sins being lifted, hallajulha!!! which makes the movie pretentious on a born again level  :D

oh wait its a poem
i see...deep James real deep.>_<  i thank you Freehaven who'd of thought id actually learn something here  :)
