According to some guys on another forum, they couldn't enter Canada for hunting trips due to decades old DUIs and in one case, a marijuana charge from the 60s. Granted, these were older dudes wanting to come in with rifles, but Canada seems very strict about tourist entry... or just very anti-hippy. This kid stood no chance.

Hippies dodging the draft are what soured Canadians to yanks jumping ship into their country, which is what this sounds like. Granted, it's just good policy to make sure someone coming in has the means to get back out of your country, but the kid's answers did him in.

Irony points time. Lots of states used to buy one-way trip plane tickets to Hawaii for the homeless to essentially make them someone else's problem. It was seen as a cheaper alternative than long term care. That, plus the high cost of real estate make Hawaii one of the most homeless-laden states. Hawaii tried to combat this in the last couple of years by buying plane tickets for them back.

Publicity of code doesn’t have much bearing on security. When it does, it’s usually positive. Take Linux, for example.

The military gives you a medical exam upon leaving, mostly to cover their own ass under these circumstances. If you have no issues, the exit exam consists of the base doc asking if there was any problems, taking your blood pressure and sending you on your way.

Most people with even minor issues do use this as the basis for their VA disability claims. Not just like "I'm an amputee", but many lesser disabilities, usually between like 10% and 30%. I'm wondering if failing to mention something as widespread as Fibromyalgia during so would screw him, or if he claimed it and the VA denied it.

Only part I found odd was how forced he was trying to make the coder/artist connection. I mean, it's only really true that both work off commission. You buy art for it's form. Code for it's function. You can't exactly get dirt cheap art from a room full of Indians somewhere.

Although I love ragging on Kage, I don't think 'your famous and didn't do enough about thing X I care about' is a valid complaint. Kage has frivolous and nebulous fund raisers than annoy you? Let's bitch that he didn't have another! AKA, the kinderegg argument.

Despite a general consensus that Lemonade/Tim was well loved in the Fandom and died while doing a rather noble job, here was no attempt made at getting anyone to do much of anything other than saying how upset they were online.

They could have raised money to research the cause and cure of car crashes? It's a tragedy, but I don't see as easy of a 'give money to' option here as say, the kid who took the circlerope portal to equestria.

'Coming out' as furry seems like a weird way to do it, especially with commissioned art when he's a musician, and could just write a song about furry as easily.

I don't really register this as news because he's known for the theme song to a parody of an anime, and because you have other furry-inclinced musicians who are better known. Moby, the fox-say jerks, Snoop (insert fursona) and that scaly from NOFX.

Like Frank Gembeck, the guy seemed to have mostly drawn very bland stuff. I won't deny that's not what I would have expected for a kiddy-diddler. Someone like Addlesee I could see more into that.

I like to imagine manchildren of Groat's caliber are monitored very closely by someone in the alphabet soup agencies. He basically does nothing but amass weapons, rant about everything under the sun, and try to cheat everyone around him. Maybe just as a kind of known honeypot where they can gather up other beardos and monitor just how much kiddy porn they have.

Like, the only good thing to come of the police-state monitoring.

There's nothing novel to prompt such a migration if you disregard the rape angle.

I thought that was kind of my point. People are drumming up the rape angle (against what the victim seemed to want) specifically to use it as an 'AHA!' against Dragoneer that they really didn't need in the first place. That seems actually quite disrespectful to the victim, using her experience in that way. Am I the only one to see that?

I get the smalltown angle, but even a non-rapist Wan is still a popufur ego-machine who shouldn't be in charge. I don't see what amounts to at best, 10% of furry artists migrating to other sites to be an effective protest though. It seems more like mental masturbation than a solution.

Rodox, if the issues were so entwined people would have been jumping ship three years ago. It's background, not motive. The censorship seems to be the biggest motive, and while some of those poor administrative decisions involve Zaush, none are truly about the incident of 3 years ago, rather the modern fallout of Zaush being an egotistical popufur who gets gigs for merely being such.

Same issue would have happened if he was a eunuch (and still that douchy), granted it wouldn't have sound as stinging as 'he's a rapist'.

Dragoneer handles this poorly, but he's not a counselor. It's actually quite hard to hold Piche in contempt for this when he merely doesn't do anything. That's not active crony-shielding of Wan. That's not intimidation. Unlike AIDS and Reagan, there's very little FA could have done for Ferality, in terms of moderation staff.

Hey guys, Dragoneer has stayed in contact with me through this. I wanted to post my thoughts.

First and foremost, I am going to seek counseling on this issue and learn about what steps to take from there. I've received a lot of information that suggests that I am not alone in my experiences.

I shouldn't have gone to Dragoneer (or anyone on the internet) about this, but rather I should have talked to someone with the legal knowledge and authority necessary to guide me. I know this sensitive information has affected others than myself, and for this mistake I apologize profusely.

I didn't feel like Dragoneer sided with anyone. I didn't feel like he was trying to tell me to keep quiet and protect Zaush. Dragoneer knew things could get ugly for me if I had simply posted a journal accusing Zaush, and wanted me to be mindful of my decision on this regard. I appreciate his input even though I do not agree with everything he said about the situation.

People are leaving FA because FA is a shithole run like a cross between a two-bit gang and a high-school government class. People are not showing solidarity to a victim by holding pretty much the opposite view of said victim. Critical difference.

Honestly, it's pretty clear he most likely coerced her into sex, but that is not the current issue, and it's not something the police acted on. Why would you hold FA of all places to a 'higher standard'? Don't want Zaush with admin powers? Sensible, but that should be a red flag even without the rape accusations.

If anyone really honestly feels this strongly about a sense of justice regarding all of this, they should contact a hitman rather than moving to Weasyl.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems the current issue has virtually nothing to do with Zaush and rape but just how poorly FA's administration and moderation in general manage PR.

People keep trying to tie the Zaush/Ferality thing into this, and I just don't see that as a cohesive argument. People are leaving FA because it's a popularity-ocracy, the PR is deplorable, and the site is badly managed. All good reasons to leave, but unrelated to the events three years ago that truthfully Dragoneer could not have done anything meaningful about apart tell Ferality to go the police as she already knew she should.

The fact this isn't all of the issue strongly hints the guy is a douchbag. Even if he was asleep when groping, doesn't sleepwalking usually involve 'scripted' activities? Sure, people sleepwalk or sleepdrive, but their minds are just running through a set of actions with a minimal amount of fresh input. They drive to work, or a route they always take.

So basically, if he is sleep-groping people, doesn't that imply he's so grope-happy in his waking life it just kind of spilled over into his unconsciousness?

Like furries failing to understand trademark vs. copyright, you can't 'slander' someone with text on a forum. Slander is spoken. Libel is written. Unless we're podcasting or uploading audio, there's really no possibility to slander.
