News Media / A furry by any other name
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:03:53 pm »
A Pennsylvania judge won't let a man change his name to 'Boomer the Dog'.

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/38673766/ns/today-today_people/

This had led to much furry waaahing, and a lot of ire from other pennsy furries who obviously have dealt with him before. Much WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE FANDOM ensued, mostly from Kittrel.

http://b.imagehost.org/view/0305/boomerthedogissues

And a lot of supportive crap from FA.

Also, the 'sperg alarm should be going off in spades for this guy.

News Media / Furries in a music video, for real this time.

No more rentals or orange flavored drinks, just actual fursuiters in a happy feely pop song. Some still have con tags in their ears.

Scandal! / Mall Ninja Vs Macrophile; big guns and bigger egos
« on: February 15, 2010, 03:13:44 pm »
http://www.flayrah.com/c/anthrocon-bans-fur-over-open-carry

Okay, gist of this is PA allows both concealed (with permit) carry and open (with or without) carry of firearms. Some cities/townships (Filthadelphia mainly) have harsher laws, but in general PA is like Texas used to be. However, at AC, CC is discouraged because it's against hotel policy.

So this guy, Ross*, decides he wants to be the next Groat or something and gets busted once on a bullshit OC charge, and once on a legit charge (he carries into an Airport, which is beyond retarded). So Conway decides to stick is nose into this and basically says that because Ross can't keep out of trouble, basically bans the guy from AC. Some may see how this could be a concern, but it carries over from a tradition of Conway banning people from AC for things unrelated to the most part to AC.

As to whether or not one needs to be armed in that part of Pittsburgh, well it's not as clear cut as I'm sure the staff will comment that it is.

The Greatest irony being that the DLL convention center is hosting the NRA gunshow in 2011...

*Last name is Ross, it's not Sibe.

Scandal! / Scappo tracing dramabomb.
« on: December 30, 2009, 07:24:16 pm »
So it was found out that some of the images Scappo posted up to his paysite or whatever it is were traced. This got out to lulz.net.

Overlays were made... (NSFW obviously)
http://i48.tinypic.com/14ah2zo.jpg

Anyway, he had a shitstorm on FA, which basically was a lot of whining and back and forth between people over whether or not referencing was okay (ignoring it's a paysite, and he was tracing not referencing) and all that rot.

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1118996/

So the damage is he quit the fandom and took it as a personal attack that someone called him out on this. The world still turns, but few times has the word 'troll' been used so loosely.

News Media / PETA being stupid as usual
« on: June 17, 2009, 08:17:46 pm »
It seems PETA sent a letter to anthrocon (an email actually, they care, but don't care enough for the cost of a stamp) asking Anthrocon to ensure no real fur is used in the process of making any of the fursuits there... as if they were all owned by the convention.

Kage's response is short, and fairly good at diffusing the non-problem, and garners a lot of cocksucking from the FA forumites.

I mean, we all realize that virtually no fursuits can incorporate real fur, yet alone do. I'm kind of wondering what, if anything prompted this in the firstplace other than the use of the word 'fur' in the word 'fursuit'. Still I think the idea of the PETA idiots showing up at the convention hotel like they do at Barnum and Bailey would be just such a welcome touch.

Did they honestly expect someone to phone up each and every fursuiter to ensure none are wearing anything except faux fur?

News Media / Attack of the show host is a huge furfag
« on: June 11, 2009, 08:37:59 am »
Literally.

In typical speedtalking G4 fashion they review the new Palm Pre and contrast it to the iPhone so people can make an informed decision as consumers fanboys of either have argument ammo.

At 6:22 the male host mentions he was browsing products on site called Bad Dragon.

http://g4tv.com/videos/39036/Palm-Pre-Review/

Presumably this bad dragon.

So yeah, intentional subtle shocker from G4 in a rare moment of subtly, or just a guy admitting he likes fantasy dildos on cable TV?

FA Obsession Collection / Jim Hardiman re-trolls fags on FA
« on: May 25, 2009, 12:23:05 am »
(assume all links are NSFW unless proven otherwise by a court of their hyperlink peers.)

Okay, so old dude draws skunkettes, and has been drawing skunkettes, in basically the same poses, since the early Clinton administration. Also, somewhere along the way he made a webcomic, or magazine or webzine or magacomic called 'Skunkworks', which as far as I can tell, may outdate even the F-117.

Also, sometime about two years ago, he made a lot of parodies of his own comic basically incorporating other fetishes mockingly, under the tagline of 'a lot has changed in the furry fandom since 1995'. Specifically, it seems he prefers his skunkettes without 'disgusting fetishes' in a kinda crotchety get-off-my-lawn style vignettes with more text than picture.

He goes off against anime styled stuff, cubs and others. Ever argument-ready fags like Rossyfox jump on the 'gay' one for being homophobia.

It seems pretty obvious this is kinda curmudgeonly whining from a guy who didn't get any better at drawing in the past decade despite all the practice, but mocking furry is a pretty duel edged sword. I mean, the guy can only really draw the same looking skunk girl in like three poses, and pretty much goes off on rants about anything that's NOT his skunk girl in three poses. Which he labels under 'fetish' but sometimes is more 'style' or just content.

Everyone seems to be missing the real head scratcher here, though, is why he's totally turned off by the unrealism of 'buff' girls, but seems to love 50ft tall chicks sticking objects in their vagoos.

News Media / Geek comic honors geek fandom
« on: September 03, 2008, 02:08:14 pm »
http://xkcd.com/471/

So the comic which requires a BA in computer science to often 'get', and still doesn't seem written for an actual laugh dons ears and tails for a brief mention of furry in a not-too-horrid life.

Countdown until the combined kudos and vile words from the unwashed masses commences. Remember each time CSI is mentioned, you have to take a shot.

News Media / Tron guy lives with a furry.

Quote
Maynard and his roommate, Paul Neubauer, own a home together just a block from a lake. They greet me in their front yard wearing matching T-shirts from the web comic Schlock Mercenary. "This was purely coincidental," Neubauer jokes.

The first floor of the house is cluttered with empty shipping boxes, old computers (58 in all, of which they use eight or nine), and memorabilia from all corners of the geek universe. Between the sci-fi DVDs and videos, a Lego set, and a pachinko machine, the living room looks like it was decorated by a 10-year-old boy in 1997.

Noticeably absent from the home is anything related to the film Maynard is so closely tied to. There is no homemade shrine to Tron. Maynard's suit is not mounted on a stately mannequin next to glass cases of film props. There's not even a Tron movie poster on the wall.

"Everybody assumes he is obsessed with Tron," Neubauer says. "But look around you."

Quote
It's worked out quite well for them. They even share a love of costuming: Neubauer is a furry who dresses as a made-up character named "Orven the Ox."

Grand irony bing furries do expose their junk in costumes and don't get any internet fame for it, at least not SPECIFIC internet fame, just generalized OMGFURFAGSUGH.

Scandal! / Back to Faprica
« on: June 07, 2008, 02:06:27 pm »
Okay, old furry magazine consorteum churns out new wank fodder. Not a bad cover either, I might add. The rub is, it's all 'black' chicks, which is a fairly funny concept right off the get go. Of course, with anything else that has a competent sense of humor, it draws a few idiots headed up by some white asshole named ChrisGryph who starts on about how this is racism, then back pedals to say it fuels racism, then just sort of meanders about how much he hates affirmative action for a good bit.

Meanwhile I'm sooo going to buy this. 'I have a dream' too, see... and it's a wet one.

Quote
Stuff like this - even when done without any harm intended - keeps racism alive. If we want racism to end, we need to stop having ANYTHING that differentiates between races.

ChrisGryph regularly crashes Kwanzaa celebrations with his mighty waggiling finger.

Quote
Affirmative Action is a program to boost non-whites, because black slavery used to be a part of the country. USED TO BE. It's not anymore, and therefore the program should be gone too. I'm sorry, but the mere fact it exists makes white people resentful of the unfair advantage given to everyone else.

What's more, racism is being kept alive by the very people who would most benefit by its elimination... in the same exact way that gay priders keep homophobia alive. They're blind to the fact that their in-your-face methods cause MORE hate, not less, and thus prolong and aggravate the problem.

Don't you love the guys who get all their opinions from '2'?

Quote
It is racism, and unfortunately it's come to the point where we HAVE to react this strongly, or else it won't stop.

By his logic wouldn't you have to fuck REALLY hard to spread abstinence?

I was wondering why Rapid was mentioned in the FA:U news feed type livejournal posts leading up 'til a more detailed one I just saw.

Also, is this a cosmic sign I should bet against Pittsburg in the NHL?

Fuck-Awful Art / Tits are pink, haha
« on: December 03, 2007, 10:16:05 am »
I suppose it's become a bit 'in' to be pink. Breast cancer awareness whatever is at a peak, from the simple ribbons to cakes that promise a share of proceeds to research for a cure. Apart from the fact that it's a bit twisted to prey upon people's sense of charity to make up crappy goods and give a slim bit to unknown organizations, it has also yet to provide a cure. More than a few women's groups have been very vocal about this.

So we don't need furries fucking this up to boot. Not that I have anything against charity, but some random furry loser artist doubling their prices and promising half of it to cancer research isn't only a bit shaky, but also fairly uncharitable. If one were serious, they'd maintain the original price and donate all or most of it. This is just a grab to sell more to make more profit, using breast cancer as a boogieman to do so.

I think we touched on this before, but furries and charity only get along on a superficial level. It seems the more 'good' someone does, the less likely they are to do it for the right reasons. This is no different in my mind.

Fuck-Awful Art / I'd buy that for a dollar
« on: November 13, 2007, 04:34:44 pm »
Ah furbid. Aflood with topics which originate because people turn to the internet when their landlord pounds on the door. So it's no shock people sell things, be them cheesy prints of cheetah girls masturbating with lawn ornaments, or an offer for a custom comission where anything goes*. Also, unsurpsingly, the place doesn't function much like an auction. People bid on what they want, but since most furries require money rather than having it to blow, the vast majority of decent stuff, yet alone the crap, never gets a bid.

Every now and then though, the fairy of shit descends upon the site to sprinkle her not-so-fail dust on an eager deciple, and you get stuff like this.

Who wants to be a (yiff) hero?
NSFW
For the low low price of $300, you too can have an uncolored, anatomically awkward AND rushed comic depicting all the nasty shit you can think up in an email. As long as your requested characters are either felines or canines with what looks like a touch of the Downs.

Feel free to turn this into a megathread guys.

*Except you can't have gore, vore, scat, watersports, gay situations or any animal that's not vaguely like a ferret, because that's all the seller draws.
