Canada's National Geographic Channel has a show called "Border Security: Canada's Front Line". It's exactly what it sounds like: a documentary/reality show about border security agents doing their jobs.

Enter an unnamed furry from Hawaii, trying to enter Canada to see his internet boyfriends while wearing a tail and without a return ticket to Hawaii and only $350. Spoiler alert: Canada won't tolerate any of that, but they will tolerate his furry porn.

Hippies dodging the draft are what soured Canadians to yanks jumping ship into their country, which is what this sounds like. Granted, it's just good policy to make sure someone coming in has the means to get back out of your country, but the kid's answers did him in.

Irony points time. Lots of states used to buy one-way trip plane tickets to Hawaii for the homeless to essentially make them someone else's problem. It was seen as a cheaper alternative than long term care. That, plus the high cost of real estate make Hawaii one of the most homeless-laden states. Hawaii tried to combat this in the last couple of years by buying plane tickets for them back.

This type of thing has been repeated in LJ and FA and reddit multiple times.  This just happens to be the first time it's actually been caught on TV.  I remember last year some fur was going to England for six months, had quit his job in the US, had proudly told his family he was gay and to fuck off, and jumped on a plane to the UK with $150 and a dream to be an artist to make the money for the return flight.

And this was HIS side of the story.

The UK Border Protection was like "Um.  No.  You do realize you can't WORK over here while you're on a Travel Visa, right?"  And he was turned around and sent back at the UK's expense.

According to some guys on another forum, they couldn't enter Canada for hunting trips due to decades old DUIs and in one case, a marijuana charge from the 60s. Granted, these were older dudes wanting to come in with rifles, but Canada seems very strict about tourist entry... or just very anti-hippy. This kid stood no chance.

I've actually been friends with people over the years who have had experiences like this.  Canada likes tourists, it just wants them to actually be tourists.  We don't want you to 'visit' and then attempt to 'stay' or then attempt to immigrate.  That's something you apply for and do the paperwork for BEFORE entering Canada.  So some of the situations I've been privy too...

CBSA: "Reason for entering Canada today?"
Person: "Imma moving to Canada to live with my internet girlfriend forever and ever! :3"
CBSA: "Do you have your immigration forms with you?"
Person: "What are those?"
CBSA: "So, we're gonna put you back on the next plane to the United States now."

CBSA: "Reason for entering Canada today?"
Person: "I'm a Canadian citizen, I've spent the last six months living with my American girlfriend in the United States but my time has run out.  Now we're coming to Canada and we'll figure out the immigration thing while visiting."
CBSA: "And you're bringing a U-Haul with all of this American's worldly possessions and even towing their car behind it?"
Person: "...Yes?"
CBSA: "So, only one of you can enter Canada today, the other gets to drive back to Arizona.  Guess which one is which."

And watching more of this show, it seems a lot of people put no thought or effort into immigration, not even illegal immigration, they just think they can show up in Canada and 'figure it out' while 'visiting'.

Eh, they've seen porn before.  They've seen so much porn that they need a classification for the porn they see.   It's not that they didn't know how to class it as porn, they knew it was porn, the porn just has classifications.  Businessmen get REALLY lonely on trips, and if you think furry porn is out there.. hah.  We're amateurs in that regard.  The professional businessman / marketing guy who is going up to Vancouver for a week of business meetings.. and only has his work laptop... probably has stuff that'd turn you green.

Trust me, they've seen it _ALL_ in secondary inspection.
