Until FA implodes upon itself and the site completely and totally dies, I see no compelling reason why a regular user should choose to move to Weasyl or any other site from FA.

That's a rather defeatist attitude, but I can see where it springs from.

I don't think it's that defeatist so much as realistic.   People know EXACTLY what FA does and how it's admin'd, but won't leave regardless.  They're placing the services they get and the community that has been built up ahead of that.  Not too surprising to me.   Featureset is not the only thing that makes people change.

That said, I can already see this whole thing is dying down.  So, it'll be just like all the other "surprising FA incidents."  Isn't it time for some fur to go on some MTV sex show?

Do you think that maybe furries are too scared to leave their hugbox to try new things? This happens all the time, I propose a scenario where FA is completely dead in the water, and without fail I have furries looking at me like I just shot their dog. Then I have to hear about them whining about me apparently wanting to take away their oh-so-precious furry porn! (This was an actual conversation on TGFB between myself and Sechs a while back, btw.)

I think it has less to do with fear and more to do with convenience. Everybody uses FA because everybody is on FA. It's more about the community that has built up around the site (as the de-facto furry social networking hub), than it is about its management or features. If FA suddenly went away, they'd just migrate on over to the next site (weather that be SoFurry, Weasyl, or something else).
