How To Train Your New Admin
« on: March 10, 2013, 05:18:36 pm »
This is meant to be a thread about the continuing reports of the new admins being poorly trained and generally oblivious to how things work around FA.

Let's start with something that took place in the last day. Onta, popufur extraordinaire who runs HardBlush.com, had their avatar removed for the following reason:

Quote
I regret to inform you that your avatar violated FA's Avatar Policy. We do not permit sexually suggestive avatars. Please keep this in mind when posting in the future.

Thanks,
Asia
FA Administration

Now, you may be thinking "Gee, the person who runs a for-profit furry porn website had their avatar removed for being "sexually suggestive". They probably had something really inappropriate and borderline pornographic!"

And I can understand why you'd think that. Except that's not what's going on here. Nothing like that at all.

The avatar that was removed was a shrunken down version of this.

Bravo, new FA admins. You're doing a bang-up job of making us forget how horrible past admins were.

Onta posted a journal complaining about the Avatar removal. From the comments on that journal:

Quote from: Tartii
A lot of the new admins actually have no clue what is serious and what isn't. I have had a lot of 'issues' or 'warnings by admins' come up that I had to personally address and hold their hand with. It seems like a lot of the admins really haven't gotten training or clarifications with the rules.

Dragoneer's wife, Sciggles, is the "team lead" who is in charge of training admins. Just as Sciggles expected that FA users pay for her wedding with donations, she is now expecting them to train the new admins for her.

Also, Dragoneer responded to a journal about the icon removal and didn't even realize an admin did it:

then he hent that noble prince by the hand,
and said "welcome my soueraigne King HENERY!
chalenge thy Herytage and thy Land,
that thine owne is, and thine shall bee."

Maaaaan, but training new admins is haaaaaaard. They'd have to, like, figure out how to actually enforce the ToS and determine what legal requirements they're beholden to as a publically accessible website and establish guidelines and generally start acting like mature adults running a business rather than teenagers running a lemonade stand.

Isn't Sciggles in charge of training Admins? Because in that case, this isn't surprising.
