The Taxman Cometh (To Anthrocon)
« on: June 01, 2012, 03:01:54 pm »
It appears the PA Department of Revenue has finally caught on to all the unreported income generated from the Dealer's Den at Anthrocon, and has now stated they "may ask to review tax licensing paperwork during the convention". The licensing paperwork apparently must be mailed to the person, and given the convention starts in a week and a half, it's likely that some people won't receive their papers on time.

I just wish they had given no notice, it would have been great to hear about government agents swarming the dealer's den, Anthrocon security asking for badges and being presented with government ID's and being told to step aside.

I have no idea what happens at Anthrocon so I'm just going to imagine them desperately rearranging everything so the government agents never find anyone fucking in a public area or something like that.

What would've been REALLY great to hear is the Dorsai trying to stop them.  Now that's the kind of comedy you can't even pay for.

I just wanted to say BOOOO to the state of Pennsylvania for this crap.

Of all the states I've been to cons in, PA is the only one that seems to pull this.

Yes, how dare the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ensure dealers are actually registering and paying taxes as applicable, how DARE they enforce the law!
