[...] We have six admins leaving the site which is, I think, 20% of what we had. That's quite a drop and I think the users should be informed because we already know not everyone reads the forums but the loss hasn't been announced on the main page. It's a chance to reassure those of us who already know about the loss.  We can find out why he was blind sided by all of this, what is changing so that doesn't happen again and where the new admins are going to come from.

To use a quote, "Anyone can steer the ship in calm waters." Something has gone very wrong and the point of a leader here is to provide some sort of support. To reassure people that FA is actually still a viable site and that the administration is not in shambles.

Quote from: Xipoid, an FA forums moderator, in response
You're really painting up a crisis that isn't there. FA is not having any problems. The new people quit, and that's really about all there is to it. You may think there was some kind of horrible impetus that lead to the merger, such as FA was critically low on staff or needed the expertise to solve a problem, but in all honesty that's not true. In fact, there is no real reason at all that I can see for the merger. There was no crisis, no problem, no shortage of staff, nothing. It just sort of happened one day.

So now that the Furocity staff have left, we're really just right back to regular old FA, and everything is pretty normal at the moment. If there is some kind of catastrophe going on, then it's news to me.

I love the timing of the this thread and the dox leak.

"So hey guys, how's the collab coming along?"
"Well we're still working on a few things, and with any lu- oh wait most of the staff just quit. Never mind!"

Good deal for Gavin though, most of his staff are back to Furocity full time and he's still co-owner... pftthaha, I can't even type that with a straight face.

Within the last few days, changes made to the site include: blocked users can no longer reply to comments of those blocking them in journal threads, the species list is being updated (oooo! adding to an array. l33t stuff there), and something about mature vs. adult art (?).

Life goes on as normal; faced with a giant explosion that, when the dust settles, we see Sean Piche standing by the gas line, lighter in hand, re-arranging tiny pieces of rubble, hoping no one will notice.

It's almost cute how predictable this is. Quick! Change the banner to something controversial.

something about mature vs. adult art (?).

FA plans on making it possible to filter mature and adult art separately. (Mature is basically "nudity without sex", while adult is "OH DEAR FUCKING GOD".)

They're also claiming that tagging is once again in development (so, by 2078).

Aaaand it appears that applying those changes to the site broke their shitty coding again-site varies from incredibly slow loading to simply refusing to load at all.

Neer, how many times you and your goons need to fucking break the site to realize it needs brand new coding, not patching up current piece of shit you're using?

Yep, looks like, once again, they rolled out new code without any testing whatsoever, requiring downtime so they could "fix" the problem.

It's hardly an excuse (= it's not an excuse) but it is worth pointing out that they don't exactly have any way to test code changes. That requires some kind of test bed, which IIRC they don't have anything except the production site.

C'mon Jim, they gotta have a test site
If they didn't you'd probably be seeing

';
$result = mysql_query($query)
  while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
   if($row['condition']) {
//echo "<br />Hello World<br />";
//echo "<br />IHATEMYJOBSEANPICHEISABIGDUMBFAG<br />";
?>

So, remember when I sarcastically said adding to an array was l33t stuff? Apparently, it is.

But I have to love their failure mode. The backend server completely fails to return a valid response, which I'd guess means the entire PHP interpreter just died wherever the error was, whereas in a marginally better language you might get ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException.

Somehow, their fix broke search, causing it to only show results prior to 9/11/2010.

The staff page was recently updated again.

Redcoatcat, the last Furocity crossover administrator (other than Gavin), has left. A gaping hole is now present on the staff page under "Artwork".
Nylak appears to have been fired. Her account is suspended (!), yet still contains the "I AM A FURAFFINITY ADMINISTRATOR!!!!" crap most admins put on their profile, so I doubt she left on her own.
Qoph, one of the forum admins, is now a mainsite admin.

I think there might be more, but I don't have a screencap of the staff page prior to these latest changes.

They seem to have gotten rid of the different sections entirely now. Fay V and Xipoid (both forum mods) have also been added, along with Oddy, whoever that is.

I guess it's back to normal for FA, aside from Gavin still hanging around.

Oddy seems to be a new music administrator. I guess Fox Amoore (or "Xoxamoore" as his misspelled staff page listing says) needed some help.

"Skiefire" is also new. Looks like they've (once again) ended the practice of only pulling staff from the forums.  Skiefire seems to have been commissioned by Sciggles and Dragoneer and has done commissions for Dragoneer in the past, so the jump into administratorship gets to have that wonderful question of conflict of interest surround it.

Skiefire has actually been an IRC staffer for the last two years, I believe, which is why they bumped him up to admin. I have no clue who Oddy is though.

Oddy has been the Sound Director of Furry Connection North since its inception, though I don't know of any connection he has to FA.
