Operation MetalGear or Metal Gear is the Anonymous counter-surveilance project specifically targeted at tracking down "an enigmatic, yet sophisticated military app designed to spawn multiple cyber personalities." ManTech was one of the targets of this operation.

Romas/COIN and Odyssey on the other hand are said to be the government surveillance projects supposedly targeted only against populations in the Middle East that include the participation of such electronic security firms as ManTech.

Yes well let's remember that not only is "security" turning into a giant scam/contract gold rush, but there is 100% nothing in Piche's background or stated resume that has anything security related. All he knows how to do is install Windows XP and join it to a domain, in a manner of speaking. Not exactly Ph.D. level stuff.

So other than the delicious irony of the owner of FA also working for a federal computer security contractor, for all we know Piche is yet another helpdesk drone with no formal credentials for his job.

Perhaps a better question: has anyone every genuinely defended Dragoneer? There's plenty of inventing reasons to disparage his detractors, but I can't recall much (any?) direct response to criticism.

I don't even have a social circle in the fandom.

I can't give you a figure on how many Viv users are unemployed, but were it not for all the personal info on it, I'd be more than happy to show you a copy of my W2 from last year.

Well, let's see. First off is that he got it through pure nepotism. Second off is that it's a defense contractor job, and not just any defense contractor job but a Bush-era defense contractor job. So that means that even at his rock-bottom tier level, he is paid (at the absolute minimum) upper-middle class wages to do fuck-all. Not because of some kind of mistake, and certainly not because of some manner of progressive wage structure, but because of the sheer torrent of money flowing in. (With a little help from mom and dad too, I'm sure of it.)

All while people with superior skillsets can barely find work at all, much less a job that pays half as well as his. Lots of people like that everywhere, not just in furry.

So yeah, "we jelly", as the saying goes. Hells of jelly.

Those jobs are going away fast. The Decade of Pointless Endless War is drawing down and the Federal government is getting the squeeze from the combined forces of the Tea Party (frightened old racist white people) and the Republican Party (billionaires). New revenues are not on the horizon and deficit spending (that which financed a lot of the Bush-era welfare programs for people like Dragoneer) is becoming less and less feasible. The whole reason contractors exist in the Federal workforce in the first place is precisely for this reason: so that when they are no longer needed the Feds don't renew the contract and have no more obligations- i.e. retirement.

That Piche has existed at the bottom for so damn long is going to seriously hamper him when he looks for work. That and his AA in animation or graphic design or whatever is essentially worthless in his field. I don't know what the details of his family connection(s) are- but if there ain't no money comin' from the Feds to pay for his job, he'll be gone. And the Feds don't give a shit about the fact that your mom is someone's secretary.

Also: I don't know what he is paid or what you consider "upper middle class"- but I think you are overstating his salary a *little*. He probably has a decent salary and a pretty good benefit package- but I would consider "upper middle class" to be north of 70-80 grand for someone with no kids.

You have a point, but the defense fundollars spigot is pretty hard to close; there are no contracts on Earth that are sweeter. ManTech or whatever could easily coast on this shit for the next half-decade, with the money train stopping only when the people at the top decide to cash out.

Seeing as how the middle class is very quickly rushing around the U-bend, pretty much anyone with any benefits or disposable income at all is going to be at the upper end of it within a few years.

To that, I would only say that cybersecurity is hot shit right now. You can get money thrown at you by practically anyone if you claim to protect them from Sony-style attacks. That probably has a lot to do with why ManTech is getting so much money. Dragoneer, as we all know, couldn't secure a shower at a furry convention. He has no education and his experience is worthless. It's a matter of time. Just like Dax getting what he gets and working where he does with only a high-school diploma, Dragoneer is gonna find himself up shit creek eventually, since he's lived like he's 21 for the past 10-12 years, financially speaking.

It might be another 5-7 years, but I really do not think that long-term this defense gravy train will continue to exist this way. Not unless things really radically change with the trajectory this country is on.
