Furrydrama_2 is a live-journal community/treehouse devoted to Furrydrama. The owner/admin, Teahound, recently decided to institute new rules governing language people may use:

But seriously, dude, this is gonna cause soooooo many more problems than it's gonna fix. :c Case in point, see all of the above.

This community is founded on the idea of mocking people and being an asshole 'for fun,' the idea of trying to make something that could already be considered offensive and morally questionable PC for everyone is kind of ridiculous.

There are some really serious offensive slurs I don't think anyone should use, but you know what? People with common decency won't use them. I agree with certain words being banned, but I really think a lot of this is going to far, and falling into the "someone will/can take offense to anything." It's not worth fussing over every little potentially offensive thing someone says, especially here, of all places!

It's not your job to educate people on what's offensive and why, or at least in this kind of environment.

I like you, dude. I think you're awesome, and I do appreciate your effort to be forward-thinking and careful about what kind of language you use. I think it's admirable, honestly. It's just here... it seems fruitless.

Not to be snarky or anything, but I'm... really curious about just how the mods / community is going to enforce this rule when there seems to be a fair percentage that simply don't care on the grounds that this is a drama-mongering, fit-pitching, mud-slinging comm that centers around people doing incredibly [can't think of a substitute for "stupid", "idiotic," or "dumb*," which are ableist, sorry] things, and any entry can explode into 200+ comments or more. It never seemed to be an issue until now, and if anyone was really out of line, they were dealt with in the past easily.

Not to say I don't agree with what you're trying to do, I do, but it seems like you and the other mods might have your hands full, if only because of how language is used today, and few are going to recognise half of these terms as things that are actually carry baggage beyond "lol u 'tard, u so silly."

fd_2 is where furfags go to point and laugh at other furfags while pretending they're somehow not as much fail as their targets. In terms of quality of the community/comments they rate somewhere between CNN and Huffington Post.

The inherent problem in FD2 is that it is a community run -by- furries, -for- furries.  And as much as they like to pretend they are cool and disinterested and above all that drama that they like to point and laugh at, at the end of the day they are still furries.  Which means they are still passive-aggressive, in it for popularity and e-penis, and too submerged in the ideas of 'never exclude lest ye be excluded', that they can't just come clean and tell people to get the fuck out.  So they come up with increasingly esoteric and abstract rules, and selectively enforce them to passive aggressively silence or weed out people they don't like.

And this is why Viv will outlast and always be superior to places like FD2, lolfurries, WYS, and so on.

Registration is actually "open" right now - as in, it's still a closed group, you need moderator approval, but it's no longer closed to all new members forever.  I was quite surprised to see that.  Wonder if these new rules have anything to do with that?

Well I'm gonna assume this was the same for FD_2, but WTF_FA became private and put in approved registration because of the amount of lurkers using the community just to find things to troll on. Basically, to try to help improve on the "look but don't touch" rule.

Except it doesn't even seem FD_2 members are even punished for breaking that rule. A lot of the people that start shit on every posted person's profile seem to be still around. I mean I could be wrong about that but it's really how it looks.

Instead they ban people for "leaking" the contents of the FD_2 posts. Not even leaking them to the people who were posted, but just screencapping and posting them to people in general. It just reeks of that "secret club  get out!!" attitude.
