Over this weekend, an Atlanta radio station went undercover at "Furry Weekend Atlanta", sharing their discovery of the Cerberus dogcock sheath and reading publicly available tweets from con-goers on-the-air and using them to crash room parties

I do not believe even Charles Schulz, of Peanuts fame, truly realized the universality of the famous "football gag". We've been playing this media action/reaction game, for what, close to 10-15 years now?

Also, since every fucking furry convention has a hashtag that's beat to death by almost everyone every year, it's really easy for any drooling idiot who can click on a blue underlined word to see the faggotry unfold in real time. It'd be fun to set up something that looks for, say, #FWA2011 and certain other keywords and streams the resulting feed on a website. Make it all AJAXy and shit.

If you were a masochist, you could even grab the Twitpics and make a slideshow.

I don't really know what's worse- the obvious familiarity with the "if I don't sound like I'm lying through my teeth..." technique, the use of "we" to both deflect personal responsibility and lend credibility to this guy and his shitty dog-and-pony operation, or the fact that this company and others like it probably give the mob pause when it comes to, uh, unethical pricing practices.

Oh man, I love the swear-word censorship there. It took a mild curse, not written in anger (something along the lines of "damn lucky"), on another web forum and some subsequent Nazi mod playing the schoolmarm to make me realize both that there are still people who treat those words like they're still in 3rd grade as well as how deeply weird censoring words like that on the Internet seems.

Eh, I was tempted to de-censor it, but in the end I didn't think it mattered.  Hell, I don't know if that was the poster censoring it or the site.  Still I think it sums up nicely one of furry's problems.

A lot of "old media" sites are sort of weird about comments- I'm thinking newspapers and local TV news in particular- on the one hand they want them because crazy people love a platform and that drives pageviews, on the other hand they really don't want to offend the old white people who are all that's left of their paying subscriber and viewer base. So that sort of censorship is really common on those sites.

Of course I'm guessing this "regular guys" show isn't exactly for that demographic, so who knows.

Undoubtedly being harassed by hundreds and hundreds of furries, The Regular Guys changed "follow friday" to "furry friday" and tweeted the Twitter handles of a couple furries... probably the "weirdest" of all the ones trying to contact them.
