Florida furry plots "Columbine-type" school shooting
« on: March 15, 2011, 01:03:34 pm »
Quote from: WTSP
Seminole, Florida - A 10th grader at Seminole High School has been arrested in a plot to kill fellow students in a "Columbine-type" assault on campus.

Nathanial Zeno, 16, of Seminole is charged with one count of solicitation to commit murder.

Investigators say he tried to recruit a fellow student, telling him he "was targeting people that had a history of being cruel or neglectful to animals," the sheriff's office said in a statement Thursday night.

Investigators said Zeno was studying a book on the Columbine massacre and was in the process of obtaining maps of the school and a list of preferred firearms when deputies discovered the plot.

Quote from: Furry News Network
His entries on the deviantart.com website show Zeno’s level of distress over the past months: He uploaded two pictures of himself. Under one, he wrote, “I know I’m ugly.” Under the other, “I’m hideous.” He listed his personal quote in German, which translated to, “Would die in order to be a real furry.” His tagline on messages: “I’d rather die on paws than live on feet … FFL — Furry for Life (Keepin’ it furry since 1998).”

welp.

The furry news has the story and so does the real news.

A furry with mental problems?

That's a new one.
I don't like to hit little bitches with glasses, but when midgets step up, I stomp midget asses.

His mother enrolled him at Seminole, but acceptance came hard. And Zeno, a loner, was hard to get to know. He would wear all-black clothing and had a problem with personal hygiene. As for being a furry, he was especially interested in cats and had a fox costume he wore to the Renaissance Festival. His mother noted he had a rich fantasy life.

“I think he felt very rejected and isolated (at Seminole),” his grandmother, Claudia McGrath said. “He wasn’t into drugs. He wasn’t violent. … He was messy. He was on the gloomy side.”

Should I take a shower today? Nah! I do feel sorry for his parents/grandparents though - hopefully they had tried getting him help but given he probably has a mental illness I doubt it was easy (or helpful)

I hope this kid gets locked in a mental institution for a very long time. I mean really, you have to be cracked in the head to think and say the shit this kid did. His parents should have there breeding implements removed as well, cause there obviously not adding anything meaningful to the gene pool

Wait, is he the guy in the fox suit in the furry picture thread?  I mean there can't be that many guys who dress up as a fox for a renaissance fair.  At least I hope not.

It's good that they got to him in time before he did anything stupid. At least now he can get treatment and get help getting his life together.

Kind of relates back to the age old question of does the fandom promote and produce psychos, or are psychos naturally inclined towards the fandom?

I mean, you can talk about the 'issues' people have based on what they say on LJ or whatnot, but not many start actively plotting mass murder. There is the chance many more do and just are too lazy to put in the effort required.

Only shining ray of hope was he didn't seem to want to go the route of doing all this with a cheap bought-online katana. There is still hope.
random gay furry art is broken , when will it be fixed ?

The furry fandom is build on escapist roleplay and idealized-self fantasy characters called 'Fursonas'.  Ontop of that trait, the furry fandom enmass opposes all 'opressors'.   I'd say that the furry fandom is a magnet for the socially unpopular because it's basically 'The Global Losers Club'.

Or he could just kill himself and be a regrettable but forgettable loss of life.

Ignoring your grammar, do you remember what it was like to be in tenth grade? Kids are unimaginably fucking cruel to each other, and no one really wants to be there. It's basically some kind of legal prison camp. I mean, Christ, if we all got locked away for shit we said when we were sixteen years old there'd be few people on the "outside".

Although I should add that yes, what this kid was doing was really fucking stupid. He needs a psychiatrist as of yesterday. I hope he gets the mental health care he needs.
Can it be this sad design
Could be the very same
A wooly man without a face
And a beast without a name

:| Nope, because I was using my run-down Jeep renegade to ditch. (I was a horrible high school student)

Besides, this kid's problem seems to stem from ignorant parents that thought the internet was harmless, and that the best way to deal with 'bullies' was to tattle on them, instead of breaking out some of their teeth. So, no, I don't feel at all sorry for this little dipshit, or his parents.

(Mod edit: Fixed the fucking atrocious grammar. It's preserved for posterity in the quotes, so I don't really give a fuck.)

You probably should've caught a few more English classes while you were in school.

Just sayin'.

Half the time the parents can only do so much for shit in high school. If the parents get too involved in trying to protect their children it just makes things worse for them. It's all speculation anyways; who knows how good or bad his parents really were? There's a lot of dumb people out there and if you can't fit in like this kid you will end up being singled out in the end.
