Furries break hotel elevator

Over the weekend 25 furries at Further Confusion thought it's be funny or whatever to crowd into an elevator.

The elevator proceeded to fall 18 stories before, sadly, the emergency brakes stopped it between the lobby and another floor. The San Jose fire department had to rescue them.

Someone captured some of it on video. Apparently in the hour they were trapped people had panic attacks and threw up.

Someone also told me FC is moving hotels next year. Gee, I wonder why...

That's nice. It's always hilarious when people come close to dying or serious injuries.

Other things I heard on Twitter:

- Hotel smelled of pot.
- At least one babyfur in full regalia 24/7, public places and everything.

Yeah, I'm sure it's like what's happened a zillion times before: they "lost" the hotel.

I thought the hotel is actually pretty nice - the outdoor pool is amazing. It's too bad too, but what can you expect? I do get a sick sense of glee from the fact that they got to suffer in that elevator though; that's what they get for crowding so many fatties into a confined space.

Actually, they're moving to the San Jose Convention Center from what I've heard, not switching hotels (although leaving it certainly). Was announced at the closing ceremony from what I understand.

It's horrendous that a bunch of kids were dumb enough to play that stupid game with an elevator, and it's ridiculous that other cons even HAVE to post people to guard the damn things, but BE MORE FUNNY next time.

I am now upset that there hasn't been (at least I haven't heard of any) any drama regarding convention elevator cops.

Did they assume that elevators float on magic spacey astral clouds or something? 

Gravity's really not a complex concept to most people.  Apparently these furries don't fall into the "most people" category.

Who would get charged with the liability for this incident? I'd assume that FC itself would have to foot the bill for the elevator re-certification and the fire department response. Someone is going to have to pay damages.
