An Article Left Unwritten
« on: October 29, 2010, 06:40:09 am »
With all the worrisome news about Furaffinity staff and what not, I am surprised that nobody has put themselves to the task of writing anything up for Vivisector on the furaffinity staff as a whole, preferably someone who has access to more "amenities" than someone like me (such as furrydrama_2). I'm sure a lack of information within the confines of one person's own information on individuals on the staff could be a demotivating factor, but in that case it might behoove us to sort have some sort of rap session of information sharing, and then have someone conflate the collected facts into a legible and possibly humorous article.

I originally thought about this because I have a wealth of information on FA's newest sweetheart admin Chase V. Rocket/Blaze Darkarma/Sean West prior to Furaffinity times. They are pretty relevant to the recent drama about his dogfucking tendencies (and other things within that same area of drama) and all my info comes down to having known him pretty well for almost 7 years, but I've been kind of holding onto any info I have because while he may be an ass-and-a-half, it seems silly to dedicate a whole article to just him when all of the Furaffinity staff have skeletons peeking out of their closets with bedroom eyes. That, and spreading what I know carelessly may cheapen any effect it may have if ever put to an article.

If someone is already putting together an article on just this and has it in the works, then consider me very happily misinformed and I'd like to offer whatever knowledge I have to them, however little it is.

If not, then hopefully this isn't just a terrible idea.

Look for a thread here called "FA Retrospectacle". Most of what's floating around right now is hardly new news, and most of it is pretty concisely discussed there.

True enough, there are a wealth of threads (the aforementioend FA Retrospectacle thread being probably the most informative), but I still think it could be beneficial to write up an article of that longwinded thread and any other amount of information that has popped up in the meantime.

You could never write an article on FA.

Every time you got to the end, there would already be more to add.

I'd certainly encourage anyone who wishes to put it all together into a coherent narrative to have at it.

I think an article oriented towards the history of the site would be a great contribution. A lot of people don't know how FA got started and how Dragoneer ended up owning it. Just be careful to weed out the crap from the truth, Dragoneer is pretty good at encouraging bullshit rumors that obscure reality.

Stuff on the years that Alkora owned it would be great. Or who is responsible for the wreck that is the current code base, whoever that may be. I suspect it's Alkora, who would have been barely in his late teens at the time FA was getting started.

it seems silly to dedicate a whole article to just him when all of the Furaffinity staff have skeletons peeking out of their closets with bedroom eyes.

I'm not certain about that. From what I can remember, most of the FA admins at least didn't really have skeletons in their closet, they were just not suited to being staff because they were lazy, incompetent or the like. Furthermore, the environment was so toxic that I think it brought out the worst in some people who might have otherwise been all right. Dragoneer bears most of the fault for them, as it were, I think.

However some, e.g Pinkuh, are standouts for going above and beyond the call of duty. It seems fair enough to me to devote an article about a single member of staff, if they're a really egregious example of someone who really really shouldn't be on staff. When you do have someone like that on staff, it's an encapsulation of the failings of the site. A glance at Chase's profile and submissions: the nonsense about banhammers, the toss about worshipping dragoneer as his deity, the constant threats and posturing makes it seems like he might be a really egregious example.
then he hent that noble prince by the hand,
and said "welcome my soueraigne King HENERY!
chalenge thy Herytage and thy Land,
that thine owne is, and thine shall bee."

I do think, if you want to make an article, to work off what is available on ED's article. Yes, it's crap but it would save you a lot of time.

I'm in the process of re-writing that to be less crappy.

lol double post.

The point I was going for is that ED presents (sometimes) facts in a semi-rigid format while attempting to be funny.  If you'll notice, most of the articles here have some semblance of a narrative structure among the attempts at being funny.  So, again, I encourage anyone who wants to write an article on any subject to do so within the guidelines noted here, and try to put a narrative behind it to make it interesting.

If you actually read my post, I suggested ED solely because you had a framework set up and would prevent redundant information from being posted. So please kindly cork it.

Probably not the smartest thing to tell a forum admin, but hey...
