The New Meat: Great CYDiot or Greatest CYDiot?

Now that a number of classic CYD articles by esteemed former colleague The New Meat have begun to appear on the Blog, we could use a place to discuss his many targets and boundless anger about webcomics.  We've tried to keep these articles as intact as possible; though some images originally hosted on Imagebucket have inevitably been lost.

Of the articles currently on Viv, I think the one which is simultaneously the funniest and the most horrific is the one on Kit 'n Kay Boodle.  When it was first posted back in 2005, I had only scant passing knowledge of the comic and its creator, and the collective dysfunctions therein.  And despite not really having any particularly odd fetishes, the comic manages to sink to depths of depravity that few others dare attempt.  And of course it gave us the oft-repeated cries of AAAUGH POODLEMOM.  Good times.

Some of the reviews could really use follow-ups, I think.  When they were written, Better Days hadn't even started the idiocy of the 'adult Fisk' story arc(s), and Gene Catlowe was just barely beginning his decent to complete and total lunacy (likely fueled by his connections to Katelis).

I'd like to see a followup on the Kit'n'Kay Boodle one.

There was an attempt to bring ongoing discussion of it to the board and... no, just no. Having to look at the full comics, every time they were posted? No. That way madness lies. People were begging for it to stop. Literally begging. In whole comics and ongoing format, the disgusting mass that is Kit'n'Kay Boodle can overpower the most jaded of internet denizens.

Someone needs to take one for the rest of us. To take the horror that is that comic and render it into a mostly textual format with only the occasional panel of reference. Whole pages, in depth discussion... it hits too hard.

But if some brave soul... some brave, strong-stomached, selfless soul... could go in there. Give us an article or two about it. That might make for some damned fine horror tourism.

In that review, he stated how the Kit'N'Kay Boodle forum goers apparently love them. If so, I wouldn't even want to speak to any of those people. There's just so much mental ruin with all of it. Ugh.. what a blight.

I might do this sometime. I'm not a fan of the comic, but I was able to read most of the archives a couple years back. At worst it was a train wreck I couldn't look away from. At best it was just more cute animals spooging each other in the fandom.

Lamox, for future reference, I would recommend that you do more than just summarize the strip.  We need more than a synopsis to be entertained.  We need analysis and jokes.  Write every article in a way that puts your own stamp on it, so that people reading it will see why you and not someone else were the right person to write it.

Second, you're retreating material that's already been visited in the old KnK article by the New Meat.  We've already had someone take apart the earliest KnK story arcs, we're looking for someone to tackle the later arcs which we haven't read yet. Pretty much everything that needs to be said about everything that happens up until the appearance of Poodlemom has been said.

Third, please follow the official posted protocol.

@ProvincialTwit: It's kind of hard to say I didn't read if there is nothing to read. When I made that thread the criteria hadn't been posted yet that I had seen. And I know you didn't read it- you don't need to be psychic to guess that.


@Fantastigasm: Thanks for better definition on what you guys wanted to see in that article. What was posted was just quick and I know could have used input and sprucing up before becoming an actual article which is why there was any thread made. At least now I know where to send for input, provided it's actually read this time.

Anyway, I'm pretty tired of this shit and how completely off-track this thread has gotten so I'm going to clean up all the bullshit posts in the morning.  If you can actually write up something worth reading, we'll take a look at it.  I urge you to re-read the older articles in the blog to get a feel for flow and layout and such.
