Fort Collins mom charged with sexually assaulting fellow furry

Richael "Kitteh" Michels of Fort Collins, Colorado, has been arrested and charged with seven counts of sexual assault and contact against a furry less than half her age.  Those at Fort Fur Friday in Fort Collins had apparently been aware of, and warned her about, her behavior.

A Fort Collins mom is being charged with sexually assaulting a minor who police allege in an arrest affidavit she met at social gatherings for people who dress up like animals and call themselves “furries.”

Police say 45-year-old Richael Michels had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy she met in March at a furry gathering. [...]

The husband also told police Michels had recently become involved with the furry lifestyle.

To build their case, police used an individual – whose identity and relationship to Michels is not clear because the document is heavily redacted – to send text and online messages to Michels, who had the nickname “Kitteh.” [...]

In another series of messages reported in the affidavit, Michels was told she could not continue to attend “furmeets” if she insisted on having a sexual relationship with the boy.

The following is the exchange reported in the affidavit: “This wasn’t any sort of punishment for him, it’s because you’ve been having sex with him that we can’t have that going on at the furmeet. If you were to promise to stop having sex with him – or at least not tell me about it, then things could change. I just don’t want you to get in trouble, which could get us involved.”

So the people in charge of the furmeet knew she was having sex with an underaged person, and yet didn't do a damn thing to stop her, nor did they report her to the police.

They should all be arrested alongside her.

Anyway, this FA account may be hers.  This Kitten lives near Fort Collins, judging the pictures and journals, and her style of writing certainly matches.  Hell Kitten has a DeviantArt account that combines the name of her horse (Snickers) with her birthday (June 17th); Michels was born June 17th, 1964.

According to the affidavit, the information came from Michels’ husband, who told police his wife spends a “significant” amount of time online chatting with people he didn’t know. Michels’ daughter also told him Michels was chatting online with a young male, which the husband told police.

Fuck if they can't make modern life sound fucking sinister, huh?

What are furries?

The furry social scene consists of people who like anthropomorphics or human-like animal characters, according to a Denver-based furry convention Web site. Furries have social networking Web sites and nationwide conventions, known as furry cons, including one in Denver planned for Aug. 7-9.

According to a Web site promoting a convention in Atlanta, the furry community is generally misunderstood but is “known for its friendly hugging, scritching, and holding hands.” The site also asks its members to retire to a hotel room if “you feel the need to express deep, physical affection for another.”

The Denver convention, known as the Rocky Mountain Fur Con, includes a furry parade down the 16th Street Mall, an art exhibition and cooking demonstrations.

Up until recently, the RMFC chairman was a convicted pedophile.  He quit when the community told him to; Michels didn't follow his example.

Fort Collins furries object to actions by woman accused of sexually assaulted boy

The host of the Fort Collins furry gathering wants to be clear: the group cooperated with police and does not condone the actions of Richael Michels, who was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy.

Angel Rivera, who hosts the weekly furmeet gathering in Fort Collins, says Michels knew the boy she is accused of assaulting before they started attending the furmeets at Rivera’s home in March.

An arrest affidavit for Michels indicates the two developed their physical relationship while attending the furmeets.

Michels is being held at the Larimer County jail with bail set at $35,000 and is charged with numerous counts of sexual assault on a minor. Her next court appearance is Tuesday before Judge David Williams.

“The only role the furmeet really plays in the matter is in giving the boy friends who reported the matter to the authorities when the nature of their relationship became apparent,” Rivera said in an e-mail.

Michels’ arrest affidavit indicates a member of the group, who is not identified because the document is redacted, encouraged her to stop her relationship with the boy.

Furry sex assault suspect hospitalized, misses first court appearance

Richael Michels, a furry accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy, has been hospitalized and did not make her scheduled first appearance in court this morning.

Former Larimer County District Attorney turned defense attorney Stu Vanmeveren is representing Michels, but declined to disclose why his client has been hospitalized.

Vanmeveren told Judge Dave Williams his client – who police say went by the nickname "Kitteh" – is expected to be released later this week and would be able to make her rescheduled first court appearance set for July 17.

Michels posted a $35,000 cash bond on July 1 to get out of the Larimer County jail. It is not clear if she posted bond before being hospitalized.

My money's on attempted suicide being the reason for hospitalization.

This is all pretty sad and pathetic, as per usual for most mainstream-news-making furry activity.  It is pretty funny how they're trying to spin the furmeets from 'a gathering of perverts' to 'a group of friends who saved [the victim]'.

At the very least it's nice to see in this case, and in one of the recent dogfucking cases, some furries had common sense and conscience, and reported abuse crimes.  Maybe they can integrate that as a fetish somehow.

Especially when the original reports of this woman's activities went out of their way to point out that the furmeet people basically enacted a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in regards to the (alleged) abuse.
