three of which are staff. And it's been pretty dead since then. I've been pumping $$$ into Google Adwords and fchan's
third-party advertising company with no luck either. May be too niché.
Quote says it all. What is it with the furry propensity to duplicate existing effort with no real innovation added?

The self-deprecating humor just writes itself here folks.

Edit: Does keeping out faggotry count as an innovation?

I don't see why not.

Certainly does write itself.  That place is gonna die faster than this one did.  The admins are making a valiant push at keeping the place active but mindless shitposting only goes so far rite.

Edit: hi all you three people from Furrum, sorry we raged you so bad (?)

No, apparently they raged _us_

I really don't see how, though. Perhaps Dakcoon can register and explain?

I just noticed something from the OP of this thread...who the hell puts actual money into buying Adwords for a ridiculously small and unnecessary furry forum?  Has their admin never heard of the mucks, or FA, or maybe putting up posters on the con circuit?

Christ, we get top 20 in searches on "dragon wars" and I can guarantee you I didn't pay a dime for that.

Hey guy running that site, you may want to patch your board before someone else gets into your admin console.  Just sayin', is all. :3

Oh you furries and your knee-jerk reaction to call any form of criticism "hate."

Hate tends to require anger, and since we're all just laughing at you...well, do the math.

In similar news, via Furry Digg:

At 6 pm EDT on Sunday, 11 May 2008, we will be opening up Serenity Hollows, a community with a focus on friendly discussion and an avoidance of some of the annoyances we find so often on the Internet.

With subforums like Creative Creek, Harmony Hill, and Tech Treehouse, the forum Serenity Hollows strongly resembles a Something Awful that hit 40 without ever going through puberty or thinking about girls.  Looks like a real competitor in the redundant furry forums arena, competing with Furrum, Clawcast and many others for the scraps that Furry-2-Furry, Furtopia, FurAffinity, and FurNation haven't already devoured.  Same "waah waah evil trolls persection, must band together and be murry" outlook on the rest of the Internet.

Maybe they should slap that infamous warning sign on their site.

Hey guys. Furrum.com is closed, due to AIDS. That's right, the nigras got us. They DoS'd us with their awesome skills enough that our webhost shat their pants

And so ends the saga.

So, I could invest more money into a larger, dedicated server to host the forum, one that could withstand the amount of DoS the Patriotic Nigras are dishing out.  But I'm not prepared to do that. I don't have the time or resources for that right now. It would still be a target, it will still get DoS'd, and there would still be those bi-weekly raids that drive traffic into hell.  So as of now, we're closed. Sorry! It was fun while it lasted!

So dies the most dangerous arch-rival our site has ever had since, uh, Spirou.  And what's that at the end, is he threatening to go back to /b/ and shitpost just like everyone else on the board?  Really?

Somehow, I don't think he thought his cunning plan all the way through.

<Kindri> "A few days ago Karma notified me that he has purchased Furrum.com. Currently he's importing the user accounts and purging spammer."

Indeed, furrum.com is showing a "coming back soon" message.

I'm surprised, really.  I didn't think enough people even cared about the site for them to even ponder a comeback.
