BREAKING: FurBuy still shit
« on: February 14, 2015, 01:17:37 am »
In case you needed any more proof...

Friday marked yet another day of Shitty Fandom Websites Being Stupid. This time around, we start off with Firr (a drama magnet himself) complaining on Twitter that FurBuy was not cooperating in removing a fraudulent auction of one of Firr's fursuits (as I understand it).

@furbuy Hey, this isn't by me.  Please delete the auction https://www.furbuy.com/auctions/1067430.html

At this point, whatever idiot is operating the FurBuy Twitter asks Firr to post "evidence" that the auction is fake, because apparently the fact that the account is clearly a fake (It even links to Firr's FA account, which links to his Twitter) isn't good enough:

@Firr Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Can you send any evidence you have to furbuy.com@gmail.com please? Anything that can help!

A little while later, they state that they've asked both Firr and the person who posted the auction for proof, while the auction continues to run:
@RevitFur @Firr We've asked both parties for proof, and we've received reports that the seller is also the owner. Don't know who to believe.

FurBuy continues to insist it is Firr's responsibility to prove the auction is a fake, and imply that they don't really care if it is because that's the fraudulent seller's fault.
@RevitFur @Runzi333 @Firr Firr doesn't have to prove anything, you're right. But we won't close the auction without it.
@RevitFur @Runzi333 @Firr At the end of the day, this auction is the seller's responsibility, and they will take the fall if fraudulent.

"We COULD stop someone from scamming others on our website and tarnishing the site's reputation, but... NAH."

Firr then claims to have emailed them prior to all this, and that he received no response. FurBuy then claims they never received said emails and asked if they were sent to the proper gmail accounts (no. really).
@Firr We've never received e-mail from anyone identifying themselves as you. Did you send to furbuy.com@gmail.com or pandimmar@gmail.com ?

It was at this point they deleted or moved their Twitter account as @FurBuy disappeared.
Aaand @furbuy's twitter account is gone. The fraudulent auction, however, is still up.

Perhaps some day we will have a fandom website not run by manchildren... Some day...

Day 2: Juranning resumes

Ah, furries. Cause drama one day, claim will never use site again, set new site records following day. #onlyinfurryfandom
A few things to note: FurBuy is not a business, it is a private site that is paid for anonymously and run by volunteers who are furries.
How we choose to conduct ourselves, since we're not a business, is up to us. We're not going to roll over and be raped by social media.
You want to be an asshole? Fine. We will treat you like one. We're okay with that. We're people too, we can be assholes in return.
Running a site doesn't mean we have to bend over for you. We treat respect with respect, dicks with dickings. You get what you give.
Ah, furries. Claim fraud to friends, never make official report, too personally awesome to provide evidence, make drama. #onlyinfurryfandom

The shit-storm died down, but these tweets flamed the embers. Is it suicidal when a company attacks its user base?

Strangely enough, several years ago someone tried to auction a fursuit he didn't own on Furbid and Jurann stopped that. From the FA notes that were leaked:

Quote
Heya 'Neer, just a heads up. We have banned the user AndySixxx (their
FA username) from FurBuy for attempting to sell a suit currently owned
by someone else, without their permission, and then claiming that they
have sold it to someone else despite having bids placed on the item.
Clearly a scammer trying to rip people off. Not sure if there's anything
you want to do about it, but they linked to a sock puppet FA account in
order to attempt to legitimize their activity. Thought you should know
about it. Thanks

Strangely enough, several years ago someone tried to auction a fursuit he didn't own on Furbid and Jurann stopped that.

FurBuy's policy is to request proof from the auction lister and the claimed fursuit owner, then decide on the evidence. Skrat "contacted and provided discreet proof of ownership and that the suit was not for sale and the user was an impersonator" for this recent auction. My proof would have been "In a week, a scammer will be unjustly enriched, and the top bidder will be very upset" or "I'm wearing it at TFF. Watch for pictures." Firr likely didn't want to bother providing proof, and instead commented (which was deleted) on the fraudulent auction, emailed FurBuy (which was never received), and publicly tweeted that the auction was not his. FurBuy ranted about this being "popufur privilege," but fails to realize the problem with placing the burden of proof on a third party who's being impersonated and is otherwise not a party to the auction with no obligations to prevent fraud. Following this logic, an auction by PresidentObama for a White House Executive Pen would not be removed unless Mr. President himself (or are 4th parties, like staffers, acceptable?) provided proof that he did not create the account and is not selling a pen. With the recent fraudulent auctions, I expect someone to make this soon.

At least he's not spreading chlamydia around anymore--at least that we know of.
