FA Obsession Collection / Re: Project Phoenix
« on: January 16, 2014, 09:50:28 am »
i guess three years after the fact fa thinks they can now safely extend the troll/troublemaker category to include everyone who knows/cares what adam wan did

not that it wasn't there already

mentioning z-dogg's record on fa is going to become like mentioning what happened to cumulus clouds on sa

There has to be some dirt that will land him in a pound-you-in-the ass prison.

I still struggle to understand how he still has a job. If he had some iota of talent, he'd probably come off as one of those micro-steves Apple is attracting and churning out in horrifying number. Silicon Valley is teeming with egotistical brogrammers, and he's a particularly caustic example.

Problem is, unlike the majority of said brogrammers he can't seem to code his way out of the toilet. You have to wonder what the fuck is going on here that makes him useful to an organization in the slightest.

He did get canned at Google a few years back, and he occasionally brings up how much he hated his supervisor. Needless to say, I'd love to hear from any of his former co-workers there because with the way this guy swaggers around there have to be some stories.

Speaking of Micro-Steves:

he didn't show us anything in return except a PDF with some bullet points for "development milestones" (that didn't really make a whole lot of sense because they included no real back-end work) and two mock-ups that looked like knock-offs of Weasyl with rounded corners

It's probably going to end with some manner of clash involving Wan's massive ego. That is, if it ends with a bang and not the usual whimper.

We now have open endorsement of Wan's side of the story from Piche (as opposed to the last three years of implicit endorsement). It took some doing, but FA is now even less of a safe place than it was before.

No, really:

Didn't he come up with something like this before? What the hell is going on here? Who the fuck is this "small team"?

If 12/16 couldn't kill FA, nothing will.

You COULD read some shit into this if you wanted. It's standard intelligence practice to find and exploit the sexual hangups of your targets. Trouble is, what kind of target would be hanging out in second fucking life? The odds of you finding a militant Wahabi or whatever there are even less than you finding one at your local Hometown Buffet. And yet, from their study of personal space it almost feels like they were trying to do just that.
The reason the Guardian and friends even put this slide out is that the NSA hanging out here can really only mean one thing - that the entire focus from start to finish is on western or domestic parties. Which, uh, no shit.

your obvious answer is "never"

He never really cared about the ban. He's ghosted in numerous times because enforcing a ban at a convention of any kind is expensive and difficult.

FC tried banning Sibe from the convention premises many years back. They needed a restraining order to make it effective, and the court costs alone made them not bother in subsequent years.

Honestly besides Prawst being a clueless child of privilege, most of the rest of the shit they do can be easily explained as just dumb kid stuff. They'll grow out of it or one of them will get seriously in trouble for some prank or another and have to pull out all of the stops to prevent themselves from suffering serious consequences. Plenty of people like that everywhere.

They're mostly noteworthy for thinking that they'd be a lot more interesting if they brought that shit into furry. They're even sort of right, as furry is the place for those who wouldn't be able to cut it anywhere else.

32
I recall that for a while Prawst was just dumbfounded at the concept of tipping. He made some idiotic post about how dumb it was, only to be quickly reprimanded by a good quarter of his friends list (probably because unlike him they have some idea what working in foodservice is like).

The post was deleted fairly quickly. He's actually fairly good on the delete button when it matters.

Poundsignadventurecru is headed by a dude who is a second-generation furrified copy of a famous fictional hipster. It's suprising that their jokes would be only be half a year out of date.

can we just fucking kill the fucking thing already

lulz.net i mean

Think of it this way: lulz was pretty much the vehicle that made 12/16 possible. 12/16 was pretty much peak furry sleaze and nastiness, and there is no way it is being topped anytime soon. As far as lulz's goals go, which is to stir shit up and start shit, there is nothing they are going to be able to do that will fuck shit up more, and they know this. Everything after 12/16 has been "downhill" from that perspective.

And all 12/16 did, in the end, was expose a rape victim to public attack and destroy any chance of her being able to press charges in the future. That is it's only lasting effect; the rest is inconsequential in comparison. If I ran a site that enabled that, that had a hand in that, I'd pull it down and grind the drives into a fine powder.

So really, the site's had it's "fun", it's pretty much caused all of the major damage it's ever going to cause, and nobody wants to see what might happen if it tries to top it's previous record. It's time to just stop.

I will point out that some good was done on lulz, but it comes nowhere near close to outweighing the bad. Lulz had a hand in the WILDWULF/Brandon Vongthongthrip zoophilia case, as local poster Patachu managed to not only gather all of the evidence necessary to make an arrest but put it on Lulz, where someone else (if not Patachu himself) forwarded it to law enforcement and the rest is history.

Even then, this backfired in the long run. The dogfuckers started to troll the place in the hope of warning others about the next big revelation when it happens and keeping each other out of prison. The sad catch-22 of going after the zoophiles is that every animal that is saved puts others out of reach as their abusers learn from each other's mistakes. The only way to even come close to mitigating this is to keep things quiet and at least vaguely professional.

Imageboard culture is toxic. Those who put faith in the herd mentality to achieve anything useful have long been proven to be massive idiots. Those who tout Lulz as a platform for people to safely air grievances about furry figures are every bit as stupid as those who viewed Anonymous as an engine of positive social change.

Imageboard culture can, in it's own words, die in a fire.

Are they really pulling the plug?

Scandal! / Re: The alleged frauds of Darius Koopa
« on: June 29, 2013, 10:20:52 pm »
Speaking of rape, November's been one of Adam Wan's closest cronies and supporters. So there's that.

This doesn't really detract from what he's saying about DariusKoopa, who is a whole other ball of shit. It's just ironic that there are a lot of other terrible people in furry, and they usually don't get what amounts to a 50-slide PowerPoint presentation on how shitty they are.

I think he meant that he was wishing that he hadn't put Dragoneer through this.

40
He's not allowed on FA but he's still very active in the furry community in southern california and participates in a lot of events so he shouldn't be hard to find, if you want to talk to him for some reason.

Not to mention working on Anthrocon's con staff. Dude gets around, nobody gives a tenth of a fuck.

I don't really know the guy personally and I don't have an opinion one way or another on him. A lot of people seem to love him regardless of the controversy surrounding him.

Same thing happens with Steeleheart too, let's not forget that. He still winds up on FC staff every so often. He doesn't seem to have gotten the attention that TORA has, probably because he's pretty low-key. I've never heard of him talking to anyone about what happened.
