FA staff give up on answering trouble tickets/e-mails/etc

Someone on lulz.net posted this thread:

w/this picture in:

so that's nearly 5 months of unanswered trouble tickets there. There are currently 20 admins listed on the site staff page and a few more who are not.

Dragoneer and Sciggles are too busy profiting off of FA's clueless users to care, I'm sure. They'll likely walk away with somewhere around $4000 when the ornaments are all shipped out.

Whatever happened with the recent admin recruitment drive a few months back?

Didn't Sciggles buy a laser-engraver a while ago? Presumably they're trying to pay it off with this awful tat.

Looking at the comments on that journal, it at least confirms that Sciggles is still completely unable to cope with even the most polite and mild voicing of different opinions and, unable to ignore them, quickly responds with accusations and hostility in her strange clipped style. Meanwhile Princess Piche is claiming that he never ever promised anyone a new UI or folders.

FA has been going fine for all these years without selling a few holiday ornaments, why NOT donate it to charity? I'm sure that their local homeless shelter would love that money!

Quote from: Sciggles
So FA is never allowed to make more than enough to keep the power on or hardware updated? This money is going to the people who code this site FOR FREE so they can work a little harder to get extra features added...there is only so much you can do with free time but if we can pay them then something can get done a little faster. Mobile FA is one of those things that can get done if we have the extra funds for it.

People are free to donate to charity if they want to, they are also free to purchase an ornament to help support FA AND they get a physical item to show for it.

Quote from: Dicelion
To be fair, if you guys actually hired people in the first place, it would be nice- the site would probably work 10x better. It's sad when sites that are inferior for varied reasons *coughcoughdisrespecttoartistscoughcubporn* are, in terms of technology, far superior to FA, and last I checked none of them are paying their coders!

Also, for what it's worth, I've given money to FA before, in exchange for services, and got THE WORST service I've ever gotten, so if stuff like Ads were handled better, it would be nice, and I wouldn't mind actually giving money for them.

That said, Nobody is saying that you HAVE to give to charity, we're just saying it would have been a better reason in our eyes, to sell things during the holiday season, considering how many people are in need now, and your reaction is amazingly unprofessional, and I certainly don't like the way you're trying to guilt trip people. I'm not sure WHAT you do for the site, but I hope it isn't public relations. :/

Quote from: Sciggles
Not sure how I am guilting anyone into anything and I'm sorry if it came off that way. I was simply making a statement that its perfectly reasonable to be selling a physical item in return for money going to the site to help improve upon things that need improving. I am not forcing anyone to buy. But saying FA makes enough as it is is incorrect. There needs to be a little more income to help improve upon things. It's great that others can do it better. Unfortunately we need a little help and I am sorry you disagree. I feel FancySkunk said it best in his post really. I'm sorry you have had a bad experience with the site. I wish things were better and I am trying in my own way to help them get better.

I feel like that $10 would be used much more effectively in a Charity. It is the Holidays after all...

Quote from: Sciggles
FAU (Fur Affinity's convention in NJ) Donated over 10k to the NJSPCA this year, which I think is fantastic! Just because its the holiday doesn't make it any more important to donate than before and they did a hell of a job there :)

Quote from: Kwolf13
No, it doesn't. My thoughts were simply "Tis the season". As I said before, I made no demands. Simply stated my opinion.

Quote from: Sciggles
I am just saying that is how it came off is all. Saying " It is the Holidays after all..." just made it seem like you were trying to make people feel guilty. That's how I read it at least. My opinion.

Quote from: Kwolf13
If they actually use the money to do what they say they are in the journal, and we get a mobile site, then I will gladly eat my boot.

Until then, I willing to bet this will go in the same pile as the Gallery Folders and the new UI that was promised the last few times they took donations.

Quote from: Dragoneer
I promised folders and the UI?

That said, UI has been rebooted again and is in the works. I don't have dates, but we've made quite a bit of progress. It will take a few months.

Quote from: Dicelion
...well, for what it's worth, you DID promise UI... years ago. And times since then... to the point that when the beta site was announced we were finally going to see something like this: http://d.facdn.net/art/thoron/1295495280.thoron_new_ui.jpg

It's taken YEARS. I mean, it's okay if shit happened that stopped you guys from being able to do so, but own up to it, and don't act like promises were never made. :/

Quote from: Dragoneer
Not donations for that, at least not recently.

And that UI was scrapped some time ago because, while nicer, it wasn't quite as user friendly as it first appeared. It didn't work well in a variable width format.

Quote from: Dicelion
No, but it was promised! It would be nice to see a UI update from the one currently, if not because it would be nice to see the entire site re-written to a better, more stable, up to date and secure format.

For the record, there is evidence that at least some of the ornaments arrived AFTER Christmas. Note the date stamp.

These are examples from yesterday and today. They show that the situation where FA staff have just given up continues: the only way to get anything done or to get any infomation is to try and contact Dragoneer to try and have him handle it personally (and as you can see he just fobs people off with "We're working on it" re registration).

We have here a shout left on Dragoneer's page and three tweets directed at his personal twitter account:

I'm guessing "re-writing how registration works" means "we're trying to add a captcha but it has to be copy-pasted to 7 different modules and it keeps breaking the commission tab and has a bug because we need to upgrade apache and also we're using a bizarre captcha we found on the 4th page of a russian google search and it relies on quirks in php to work correctly and

Or, as is usual FA style, something over engineered and over complicated that will blow through resources and instantly crash the site, prompting another server drive for dedicated "registration servers".

Just had a peek at Dragoneer's FA page ; of the 12 shouts currently left on his page (made from June 4th to June 6th) 10 of them are people complaining about how he hasn't read their notes, that their trouble tickets have been unanswered for months and begging for help with some site related issue.

On the FA forums in this thread:

https://forums.furaffinity.net/threads/1254207-Tickets-about-child-porn-not-getting-read-in-6-months

The OP complains that tickets they've made reporting cub porn and art theft have sat unanswered for several years and another person mentions tickets that have sat unanswered for 6+ months.

That suggests that none of the attempts Dragoneer claims to have made to clear out the unanswered tickets have ever been successful.

I had another look today at Dragoneer's page today and the ride never ends, as they say, :

Looks like he also forgot to renew the SSL cert. :

However, Dragoneer has suddenly mysteriously lurched into life today and is now asking everyone with an outstanding trouble ticket to post on this journal he just made and he will answer their tickets:

Quote from: Dragoneer
Trying to execute ticket backlog. If you have outstanding trouble tickets please respond to this journal, and just let me know -- I'll prioritize your tickets and add them to my queue. Otherwise, I'll start picking and hunting tickets at random as I go.

http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/5827356/

Naturally, Dragoneer is yet again promising to bring on more admins (in the comments) too, but given that they leave or get kicked out almost as fast as they are added (e.g in 2013 FA lost lost Hendikins, Summercat, Fancyskunk and QTmelon. In 2014 : Bazeel, Oddy, Keio and Sheepdust) it likely won't help much.

The last time he was promising to bring on new admins was October 4th 2013, per the staff changes thread on here. You can see how well that worked out.

The staff page is the smallest it's been in a long time. 12 admins (13, but Helperdog is a Sciggles alt.) and three technical staff members, which is one less than usual as tsawolf has disappeared. One of the last times it got close to this small was in September 2012, when there were 15 admins.

Also, has anyone ever actually seen Fox Amoore actually do anything? In the past he was listed as "Music Admin", and I have a hunch that his entire administrative appointment is just Dragoneer fanboying over him.

Dragoneer apparently will prioritize your ticket if you tweet at him on Twitter. For those of you not on twitter, guess you're fucked.

Last I heard, they were waiting for the "new" rules to go into effect before they added more staff.

I wonder what the excuse is now.

I wonder what the excuse is now.

"working on new internal admin and staff guidelines so we can bring new team members on and hold them up to a higher standard" apparently.

The FA staff have, of course, still given up on answering trouble tickets. Posted today:

^
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6120848/#cid:42322808

On the same journal, someone asked Dragoneer how he keeps from burning out, Dragoneer responded:

Quote
By not caring. I focus on the good, take in feedback and ignore those who are disruptive. There will always be somebody out there who hates you, be it because you made a legit mistake or for other reasons. Some people will keep trying to pull up failures for a year, two years... even ten years ago.I'm not the same person then as I am now. [...]
^
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6120848/#cid:42321748

But, looking at this thread, or in the FA obesssion collection forum, you can see Dragoneer repeating the same mistakes over and over again and breaking promises time and time again. So it seems to me that he is the same person then as now. In addition, Dragoneer said in response to a comment asking about why he started FA United:

Quote
[...] I want to be involved and I the middle of things, not jus "con chair". I handle anything and everything.
^
http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6120848/#cid:42322660

I think he unwittingly explains in that comment where all of FA's troubles begin and end, and why he is still the same person now as then.

This is probably also his burning hatred of Kage, and trying to be his opposite. Conway revels in 'just being the con chair', because, despite his many flaws, the guy does know how and (usually) when to delegate.

Kage also has made sure he lacks powers he knows he couldn't handle, like banning people from the con. Huh, I guess they are complete opposites after all!

It's pretty telling that he doesn't understand the concept of stretching yourself thin. You can be "in the middle of things" without handling "anything and everything", and that isn't a sign of a good leader. Doing "everything" for a convention and doing "everything" for a large fandom social hub pretty much guarantees you're doing a mediocre job all around. I suppose his massive ego prevents him from seeing this.
